Apologies, if this should be on another thread but I can't find one that was started recently.

Does anyone one else feel he is a shadow of himself at present? He is mimicing CoH with his headless chicken impression and he really cannot play deep as he give the ball away miles too many times. Okay, he has been out, and you can't get match fit unless it's on the field of play but he is a little bit of a liability at present, am I being too harsh? Okay, until Asante is back we don't have an effective replacement but he is a shadow of the player we had at the start of the season.

Hes had a long absence and is managing a shoulder injury. If he has to have the shoulder op in the summer there maybe a similar scenario with him next season.
I expect Asante will also be a bit ring rusty given how long he's been out.

No. I think some Cov fans always have to have a player they target. At the moment it’s between Rudi and Wright.

They would both walk into any other team in the championship.

EMC is a good example of what it takes to hit form after injury (This season). Concerns were raised about his being well below his best not so long ago.

It seems that our small squad gets results even when one or two are absent/ below par coming back or forced changes due to illness(es). None of this is unusual during a season. But we seem to be better at grinding out results.

Not been as impactful this season but I think it’s partially because he’s trying to overcomplicate his game. Not really seen him appear in the box like he did towards the back-end of last season.
Yep he would have buried that headed chance last season
Great to see him in there though

The best thing is you just know there will be a time in this season where Rudi comes up with a streak of important goals/assists, he's too good a player not to. He was easily our stand out player 2nd half of last season.
Even now you can see his form is coming back. Yes he mistimes the header against Swansea but to get in the position was reminiscent of how he bagged so many last season.
What has impressed me this season is how many of our players are stepping up to win matches at different times of the season. His time is coming, he is the real deal!

we are going through stages of the season where certain players are the difference maker:
Wright and BTA to start
Now EMC

I have no doubt that Rudoni will have one of these periods

Before the Oxford game, he was arguably the best player in the team. He looks like he's either not match fit (I'd be surprised) or partly injured (possibly) or just out of form (most likely).

I think you have to give him time but wish he would stay more central. Just to get on the end of these crosses and allowing Haji to play more off the shoulder.

I agree about staying central but surely it’s what he’s being instructed to do?
He rarely stayed central during his great spell last season. He was regularly out helping to overload the wings.

100% what he’s been asked to do btw. Just think in the final third he was crashing the box and staying more central once the ball was by the corner flag.

This is his heat map from QPR which shows him significantly more in the central areas in the final third.

I think this as well, he seems to be appearing out wide right to much and getting in Sakamoto's way which i think is impacting Sakamoto's game as he is having to drift inside. If Rudoni stayed in the middle more like he did last season, then he will start getting more goal opportunities from the great crosses Sakamoto puts in.

Boxing day i actually found he was slowing us down being in the wrong areas at the wrong time , occupying EMC space far too often and leaving us without the man in the middle .. this kind of confirms it but if by instruction you have to ask why as we already have fullbacks overlapping etc

Combo of out of form, confidence & fitness for me, although looking at this from Swansea game is skewed too, mainly as we had little ball imo.

It’s by far the most we’ve allowed opposition to come to CBS and take majority of the ball. Desperate for him to hit some form as we’re a better team when he’s popping it about & getting on the end of things etc.

Think we all know our early season goal fest has probably dramatically changed how teams set up against us to allow little to no space too, which is why it’s important for him to find form & us to grind out results.

Agree with all of this.

For arguments sake on the skewed point. Had a look at Bristol and a few other games. Hard to find many games as since he’s been back he filled in for Saka on the wing. As such using Bristol from when he played as a ten.
