DONCASTER Rovers have confirmed that they have not approached Coventry City to ask permission to speak to manager Mark Robins.
The Sky Blues boss has been the bookies’ favourite for the last two days with Ladbrokes and others on Wednesday suspending all betting on him becoming Dean Saunders’ replacement at the Keepmoat Stadium – despite Robins dismissing the link as “absolute speculation”.

“I can confirm that the club have not made contact with any candidates to date as we are extremely fortunate to have been contacted by some extremely high-calibre candidates,” said Rovers chief executive Gavin Baldwin, who revealed the club had already received ten applications “of the highest quality”.
“We hope to confirm a shortlist on Monday with a view to confirming interviews thereafter.”
The Telegraph understands that Robins, in the running for December’s Manager of the Month, remains firmly committed to City and has no plans to move at this stage.

The bookies are not always right. When Andy Thorn was sacked the bookies suspended betting on Paul Ince before Robins was appointed.

* Bookies have reopened betting on the Rovers Job, although Robins still remains favourite at 1/3 ahead of Paul Dickov at 11/2.

While the Telegraph title this "Doncaster Rovers say they have not approached Mark Robins" I find it strikingly misleading. What the article says is, there has been no contact with ANY candidates.

Nothing has been crossed out as of yet.
