We probably got him for a bargain, however he could be a decent gamble and you never know he might get a few at our level.
My concerns is that he is may well get home sick as a lot of decent players from a Channel Islands do not make it on mainland due to being so used to lifestyle on an Island.

I never understand comments like this. Chris Smalling played at a similar level, Dwight Gayle was playing in divisions below three years ago. I appreciate this lad is older but there are good players in the lower leagues and I think it's encouraging to see the club looking around there. We've certainly tried signing strikers from bigger clubs for bigger money (Eastwood springs to mind) - it doesn't guarantee anything.

That's sort of my point, most non league diamonds are all young and this has been the case with most of ours, Peter atherton, Andy Pearce, Paul Furlong and I'm sure others who I can't recall. Even the players mentioned so far have been young so have a chance of improving Nuddy, Stuart Pearce so at 27 the chances are stacked against him, however this could be our biggest signing next season so I'm all in the lads a legend and will be league top scorer next season.

He was a sparky and for a full season after we signed him he advertised his services in our programme as he thought it could end any moment, came from Nuneaton I think

All we need is a striker who has a bit of link up play skill in him who can create a bit of space for callum as well as score a couple of goals,Steven pressley could convert him into that player with a good pre-season !!! #PUSB !!!

I'm prepared to watch him for a few games before I judge him. Some good players a lower levels who just want to play football....rather than swan around with an inflated ego!

Still no source to this news?

Also does this pave the way for a Wilson exit? (Sell for 2 mil and buy for 20k)

Maybe if they were similar players but Wilson brings something to the team which I think that Ross Allen doesn't, if it was a like for like replacement I might be more worried..

If he's not been snapped up by mid 20's he can't be good? Someone needs to tell Jamie Vardy that then. Signed for Leicester aged 25 for about £1m, scored 16 goals last season and is on his way to the Premiership. How we'd love to hit those lofty heights again!

Would be nice if for once we could actually you know...wait until we see a player before instantly saying "blah blah blah, he can't be good enough".

Some seem to forget we're a struggling League 1 team that appears to many to be on deaths door. We won't be getting ourselves a proven 20 goal a season striker anytime soon (well, not one with any sense anyway) so let's wish any future signings luck (wether this guy is one or not remains to be seen) and hope they do well.

I'm glad you know so much about the player...very enlightening for us! This has nothing to do with our idiot owners...it has to with Pressley trying his best to assemble a good team for next season, and I trust his judgement. Taking a punt never harmed anyone!

SISU took a punt with CCFC. That destroyed the football club and hurt many thousands of folk.

That's not taking a punt! Punts are only taking by intelligent people who know what they're doing and why.....sisu doesn't even register!

Jamie Vardy was snapped up though to Halifax town, then he was snapped up to Fleetwood Town, then he was snapped up by leicester, this situation is more like him going straight from steelwood park series straight to leicester without any other teams in between thinking he was worth a punt.

We shouldn't slag off a player without seeing him play, im sure there are players at that level that could make the step up, but if thats the level we are looking at for players we are in real trouble.

League one is clubs ranked 45-68. Level 8 are clubs ranked 233-368 It's a massive massive difference between us and Guernsey, even with them doing well last year and us struggling..

Is it possible that we've spotted a gem who can be a strong player in league one even though no league two, or conference teams have felt him worth a go? of course it is. It is however much more likely that we are simply not able to attract or pay for people of a level required to do well in this league as things stand. We have to take on desperate people or massive long shots, could they come off sure, the vast majority of the time though they won't.

Wasn't Ian Wright playing down hackney marshes at 27?

Anyway, I still haven't seen anything official?

Let's face it guys, he's cost less than one of Sisu's lawyers would charge for a day in court. He's probably on less wages than the tea lady. What can really go wrong?

If he's the only striker we've signed in August I'd be worried, but we're light up front and an extra body can do no harm.

Ross Allen from what I have seen is more of a poacher, Callum Wilson isn't a poacher, Callum is more of a flare player..

Yeah remember that shitty defender we got from Wealdstone. Name escapes me. No one from non league footy ever made it in the Leagues.

I think we should just slag him and the club off.

Stuart Pearce? there is a massive difference being a top player in the conference and making a big signing at age 21, than making a big signing at age 27 from level 8.

I know that I was checking were were talking about the same player as I certainly don't know where the majority of our defenders signed from over my lifetime so you could have perhaps been talking about a situation that was a bit closer to this one, but you weren't sorry.

Responded before your edit, I haven't criticised him at all, he is clearly a great player at his level with a great scoring record. But we saw in January how the club was now trying to make signings, it's all about signing the desperate or struggling or injury prone or incredibly cheap players or loans that don't give a damn and not about seriously trying to build a team that could be promoted.

It is possible that SP has spotted a gem and thats why he wants to sign this guy (if true) but it's much more likely that it's down to finances and inability to attract people to our slowly imploding mess.
