After listening the phone in last night on CWR, one of the callers stated that he sees Robins as doing a good job but not up to Messiah levels like other supporters.. just got me thinking When would we start to look at Robins as a City legend? I’m not saying we reach for the chisel to make the statue quite yet but when would we mention Robins in the same breath as say Jimmy Hill… John Sillett? . We have had 2 tremendous days out at Wembley with Robins ( granted the run to the checkatrade was not down to him) but for me Robins has made me excited to watch the city again.. I will admit at times under the Thorn / Slade era going to games felt a bit like a chore but Robins has brought that feel good factor back to the club as well as managing to soften the blow if you like, of our owners in the back ground. Sometimes Clubs and managers just seem to fit and I do believe that is the case with us and Robins.

Considering the circumstances in which he has to manage, if and when he gets us back into the championship he will be a lege. If he gets us to the championship play offs he will then have the full title of legend

he is already one of the most fondly looked upon managers in my life time. 1 more promotion to championship would easily make him best of all time for me,im talking jimmy hill standard as finances make it harder to compete these days

if he got us to prem he deserves a statue asap

2 trophies, a promotion and the first manager since 67? To finish top 6 of any league - name another manager that’s achieved more for us.

Technically he’s the 3rd most successful manager we’ve ever had

Messiah level = When he runs into the centre circle after Shrewsbury game, cuts his palm with a knife, before spelling out FUCK OFF COUNCIL + FUCK YOU WASPS on the pitch, drip by drip in his sky blue blood.

I think he is already right up there! He's leading us back from Lg 2 and looks to have only just missed out on successive promotions. With our style of football, if we, like the managers before him were not sharing with a rugby team the pitch would have been far more conducive to passing and im sure we would have picked up more points at home and probably made the play offs at least. Deserves soooo much credit for what he's doing at the club.

Considering we have spent the vast majority of our time (well my lifetime) in the top division it's a hard one to gauge. Don't get me wrong, i like Robins, but no way he he talented enough to manage successfully at a higher level. He is judged on a 7th finish place in the lowest league i've ever seen us play in.

If he manages to get us the championship next season he has a case for a top 3 spot.

No doubt, but then we will see his real management skills in a very tough league! Fans would be calling for his head by Christmas.

Every time we have a bit of a bad run under Robins, I always think back to leaving the last home game under Slade and walking away from the Ricoh. That was the lowest ebb in my footballing lifetime and the transformation from that day is remarkable.

He is doing a very good job in difficult circumstances. But if he got us back into the Championship and made it sustainable?

People bang on about Jimmy Hill but he bailed out once we reached the top level. Let's just say Neil Warnock has a better record than Jimmy Hill at getting teams to the top level; so maybe a legend at Coventry but not in the greater scheme.

Jimmy's second term at the club was hardly a success, at times he stifled us!

Robins has done very well for us in two spells but in my opinion hasn’t got the team playing to it’s attacking potential (this season and last) until the last dozen games or so. Next season if we are away from the Ricoh will tell how good he really is.

Looking at agent fees he’s got the 8th biggest budget in this league and we are 8th

So

Sillett
Milne
Cantwell
Sexton
Neal
Even Gould on round 1

Off the top of my head

The same - he’s got a relatively high budget compared to managers like Milne whose teams competed against he best with no money - it’s zero comparison

I have to say that all the Robins out threads and people backing that sentiment is a lesson on which posters to take seriously and which not. Shocking that people even considered there to be an argument for it. At no point has he ever warranted such cynicism. First top six finish in most supporters living memory, two successful Wembley finals and competing for a playoff place in our first season back in league one. Ridiculous notion.

Depends on what terms you define legend.

I’m only 30 so bare with me regarding achievements, and accept I can’t really talk about anything pre 95

Cantwell had our highest ever league finish and led us to Europe whilst Sillett led us to the biggest achievement the club has ever received.

Hill transformed the club, but like Robins - his achievements are lower league.

For me, I base it on what success a manager has brought the club. I’ve said above - Robins in terms of trophies is actually our 3rd most successful. I’d put him in bordering Legend status - despite it being a lower level.

I don’t think Legend has to = ability (as Grendel stated there were better managers, that have managed us but they didn’t win anything) , but what you achieve at any given club. Robins for me is earning this status.

In football manager terms, he’s definitely earned Icon status!

The only manager you rate is yourself. It's interesting that you are alway budget driven. A bit one dimensional aren't you.
