Hopefully he comes back for Thomas-Asante considering he’d been chasing him since our league two season

Well, personally speaking, when he comes back to the CBS, no matter who he's managing, I hope he gets a tremendous reception - he deserves nothing less.

And then I want Coventry to win.

It's entirely possible to want both of those things, isn't it? They're not mutually exclusive.

Genuinely don’t get any subtle or otherwise digs about Robins directly or fans who still hold him in high regard (on this thread and many others!).

He did an incredible amount for this club, gave us all the best 7 years we’ve had in a long, long time and helped bring back the club/fan/player togetherness.

If you don’t get why fans might hold a soft spot and a huge level of respect for MR, I’m not sure what to say.

This isn’t the same ball park as embarrassingly clapping Hamer.

He’s a modern day CCFC legend, who we didn’t get to say goodbye to and show our appreciation for (cheesy as that is) so it’s entirely fair he’ll get a great reception.

I’m also sure, no matter the positive views people hold on MR, we all still want Cov to beat Stoke. They aren’t mutually exclusive.

At the end of the day managers come and go. True fans don’t. I learnt my mistakes last time with O’Hare and Hamer. This time round I wont show any emotion but towards the 11 sky blues on pitch and Frank Lampard. 🩵

I can confirm Chris Ramsey isn’t happening, not initially at least. He didn’t know about Robins getting the job, let alone him being part of the staff.

That soppy Frank c**t owes Zoe’s Place £100, after our bet that the new stadium at Warwick Uni was bullshit all along.

Mark Robins named new Stoke City manager despite rival interest

Mark Robins has been named the new manager of Stoke City. Robins was keen to make a swift return to the dugout after being sacked by Coventry City in November – but won’t take charge of…

When it comes to losing our best players to bigger clubs my experience has been honed over many years, I remember Carr, Mortimer, Lloyd, Dublin, Boateng, Gillespie, Speedie, Babb, Kirkland, Pearce, Wallace, Ferguson and Hutchison all going.

This thread is making a late run for weirdest thread of the year

People getting upset Robins got another Championship job, people going all Minority Report and getting upset about what may happen if he's still got the job when they come here, people deciding there's supporters who would now happily lose to Stoke

All very odd

I don’t see any upset posters at all.

This place (me) is going to go into meltdown if Stoke go on a run.

For my sanity, I hope he fails because I'll never be able to let it go.
Adi isn't joining him, is he?

As much as it was a golden period for us, it was also for MR. It just clicked, whether either party will see anywhere near the success they had together, is unlikely.

It will be interesting to see if he's given time to develop a culture because I think that was one of the key reasons for his/our success.

I wonder if I can find a half and half scarf.

He's got 2 assistant managers at Stoke when apparently not a single person in football was prepared to come here and work under him

Saw 2.5 year contract on another Stoke thread (not 3.5). Regardless, does this mean we are likely to save a few ££s as he has taken up a new post (suspect on a higher salary), in that his contract is likely to have a clause in it about dismissal/taking up a new post. If so, good news for MR and us!

That isn’t what was said.

What was said ….

Mark wanted a flatter structure without a deputy. Candidates interviewed wanted to be the clear number. 2.

When it wasn’t working King encouraged him to bring in a more proven number 2 which Robins initially resisted but later conceded it was required.

He got someone lined up but by that time King had lost confidence in Robins ability to make the right decisions to move the club to the next level.

Adi doesn’t feature at all in Robins new set up which does rather suggest they did fall out …..

Hardly the high calibre coaches everyone was dreaming of though are they... They look like solid coaches, but nothing on the experience Adi brought...

King said they interviewed candidates but they all wanted to be in charge.
I simply can't believe that.

But, yes, the crux of it is the fall out was the beginning of the end.

They're much better than what Robins was able to bring in this summer though - Boateng, Delaney etc

I think people are getting confused over language to be honest

Robin’s was manager not head coach, therefore King saying the coaching candidates wanted to be head coach I think means they wanted to be the clear number 2 ( head of coaching ) not part of a flat structure.

No job for Boateng either. Does this suggest he wasn't a Robins appointment ?

Who were all his appointments... Why would Doug sanction the coaches Lampard brought in with him but not these ones if they were who Robins wanted all along. It does suggest it's Robins choices not the other way round
