Great news!

City boss keeping with lone striker

Coventry City manager Mark Robins has said that he is not changing his tactics and switching to 4-4-2.

When asked by the Coventry Telegraph on behalf of a supporter who asked if he was going to bring in a striker, the City boss said; "The dynamic of the team has changed and I think people should let me develop that. We want to play football and 4-4-2 is not something we are massively suited to. We can do it but I think we are more suited to the way we play football because it promotes us passing the ball and the movement I am looking for, And in general, we do pretty well at it.

"If you abandon those principles early on that sends the wrong message out for m and we have got to develop what we are doing and what we are about because we have to have some sort of identity and way of playing and philosophy for this football club which is to pass the ball and pass it properly.

"Against Preston, we needed to mix it up but that's League One football and all football in fairness. You have to play the game and you might to play it a little bit longer at times."

i think Clarke is the kind of forward who needs someone upfront with him, he reminds me a bit of Dublin... Good at holding the ball and bringing others into the game. Would like to see him upfront with Elliott for a whole game. Looks like its not going to happen though

We scored more goals Tuesday after Elliott came on, then the 86 minutes before he was on

Elliott should have been given 15-20 minutes but after moussa came on I could only see one team winning. Elliott looked very sharp

Nothing wrong with playing one up front holding the ball up as long as midfielders are moving forward to link up. This is where a fit Connor Thomas and Moussa are going to thrive as Jennings and Bailey are more of the holding style. Onus also on Sheff and Baker to break into the box in support. The growing confidence and improving organisation of the team makes it easier for players to make forward runs knowing their defensive duties are being covered by team mates.

I agree on Thursday nobody got close enough to Clarke apart from Mcsheffrey. Needed Baker and Fleck to push on too an support them

Yet 2 of his chances came from running in behind the back 4......
