The City boss talks about the squads injuries ahead of tonight's game...

Coventry City manager Mark Robins has confirmed the side still has some absentees for the trip to York City tonight.

With only five changes allowed by Johnstone's Paint Trophy competition rules and Robins' desire to progress in the competition, City fans shouldn't expect many changes for tonight's game at Bootham Crescent.

Cody McDonald and Gary McSheffrey missed the weekend's game through injury and Robins gave a brief injury update ahead of tonight's game.

The City boss said: "Some of the injuries are clearing up. We got situations where players have picked up little knocks and then they have gone on a bit, and then got a little bit worse.

"So then they have had to spend a little bit longer out of the side just to protect themselves. On the whole, we have got a fairly healthy squad but just got about five or six which who are struggling at the moment to getting back to training and playing.

"I think one or two of those will be back soon but it is never easy to tell. [William Edjenguele, Gary McSheffrey and Cody McDonald] are still struggling."

Conor Thomas has only made one substitute appearance so far this season against Stevenage due to a recurring injury.

The Sky Blues manager gave a short update on the young midfielder's progress.

When asked how far away Conor Thomas is from returning, Robins answered: "A way away. I believe he is one of a few who keeps getting a recurrence of the injury. He got a kick on the joint-line or around the joint-line so he has got a few weeks to sit out yet.

"He needs to get a bit of strength into that area of muscle. We got to make sure he is getting the right treatment so he is still on the treatment table at the moment.

"It is a blow because I have seen him play. It is obvious he has a lot to offer to the team and I think the supporters like him as well.

"They have taken to him and he is another player in the midfield area who would probably compliment what we have got at the moment."

Looks like Conor Thomas is gonna be out for a little while longer...thanks Deegan...what a nobjockey!

But Robin's seems keen on the lad which is good news.

Means we may see more of Thomas once he's back fighting fit!

It wasn't Deegans fault we rushed Thomas back

But he could've been on the way out like many others when Robins arrived. I think Richie means he is likely to become an important member of the squad.

What did Deegan do exactly?

He badly tackled Thomas in a training session ... and injured him ... last thing he did virtually before leaving the club ... really helpful !

As it's already been said Deegan is the reason Thomas is injured. Yeah we rushed him back but the initial fault lies at deegans feet.

As for Deegan leaving because of Thomas injury, I think it was a factor but his pro IRA comments on twitter were probably what spelled the end for him long before he hurt Thomas.

It doesn't help that where he injured Thomas is causing him recurring problems.

And yes that's exactly what I meant. I think Thomas would have been in our starting 11 but for that injury. Once he's back I can see Robin's using him regularly.

Same goes for Cameron. Also I'd like to see Daniel's put back in the development squad for the time being and Willis given another chance in the first team.
