Well it is March.well look at that, i did hide it
I think we can go on an excellent run with Robins and once momentum builds that in turn breeds confidence and gives an air of invincibility. So two home games against better opposition than recent fixtures, followed by a very winnable away game and 2 more winnable home games.
IF we see some good improvement and the team selection from what we have is inspired and motivated then we might see some late excitement to the season.
It's too much to expect 15 points but 11 or 12 points and a mini run could put the cat among the pigeons with other teams around us failing to win - however unlikely even I think that is.
The three teams just in and outside the bottom 4 have some very testing games coming up.
Oldham have Sheff U, Oxford, Peterborough and Bury
Bury Have Fleetwood, Millwall, Bristol Rovers and Oldham
Swindon have Millwall, Sheff U, Bradord and Port Vale.
It is very possible that they could all drop 9 pts from the next 12, if we could get a run going, win the game in hand against Port Vale, who knows?
I dont even think it is failing badly, they are mostly top half teams coming up for them a few top 6, if, and its the biggest if in years we could actually string a few together we may just have the sli...........naaah who am i trying to kid.We certainly need them to fail badly for us to have any chance, mds.
I would feel a tad more confident if Bury and Oldham were both on the slide, but they are not. They are going the other way.I dont even think it is failing badly, they are mostly top half teams coming up for them a few top 6, if, and its the biggest if in years we could actually string a few together we may just have the sli...........naaah who am i trying to kid.
Still putting a bet on us staying up
Fair point, never looked at the form.On current form both teams are in the top 10.
Dont we have one already? We could really do with a team on a monumental slide.
You dont have the tiniest, tiniest, little bit of hope, yes the reality is we are for all intent and purposes down, but untill it is confirmed i will hold out and not just accept it.guys we are down, don't torture yourself into believing we can survive. If we get 15 points from the last 11 fixtures, that will represent a significant improvement on the season so far and something to build on for next season.
And some momentum. If we go down, I just hope we aren't bottom.
Some fight please City.
Does momentum from one season ever carry over to the next season? And some momentum.
I would feel a tad more confident if Bury and Oldham were both on the slide, but they are not. They are going the other way.

Hope we don't get another Slade bounce.Their new manager bounce will hopefully be at an end, and ours just beginning
Hope we don't get another Slade bounce.
That was actually known as the Slade Splat.Hope we don't get another Slade bounce.
Did so for Leicester didn't it?Does momentum from one season ever carry over to the next season?
"an air of invincibility " take that needle out your arm man.I think we can go on an excellent run with Robins and once momentum builds that in turn breeds confidence and gives an air of invincibility.
Thing is, let's say we win 7, draw 2 and lose just 2 of the 11 games remaining, that would be an absolutely fantastic return.
It almost certainly wouldn't be anywhere near enough though.
That would give us a return of 23 points and a grand total of 49.
Just look at Oldham on 39 and Bury on 40 points. They only need 10 and 11 points to get to 50 points.
Just 10 points from 11 games, which would be a terrible return in itself, would still outdo our above scenario.
It's just not feasible. We have to look at what is needed from the teams above us. It is not just our getting to the magical 50 points for us, It has to come in conjunction with a diabolical run from the likes of those 2 teams.
As I said on another thread though, all we can do is go in baby steps. Win a game see where we are. Win another game see where we are again etc.
I honestly now think we need to win 8 out of 11 to have any chance whatsoever. Probably just 1 single defeat.
Now if we had sacked Slade 2 or 3 games ago things might have been a little different.
Fact is we could simply NOT afford to lose at Oldham or at Bury and we did both.
Still be nice to build some momentum however and have that winning run.
I would feel a tad more confident if Bury and Oldham were both on the slide, but they are not. They are going the other way.

We have indeed been making it easier. While those above us have been putting up a fight and picking up points, we have just been sliding and sliding and sliding and the gap just seems to be getting larger and larger.which is exactly what the likes of Bury and Oldham are saying about us... we are the momumental f*ck up that is making their job so much easier!!
ah the joys of being a Cov fan! :-(
6 wins, 3 draws and 2 defeats would be excellent.I'm taking relegation as I cannot see how we'll get out of this one. If we do, we'll proper cement our 'Harry Houdini' tag.
All I want is for a good run in (and a win at Wembley) so that at the end of the season we can look back and think 'my god that was horrendous but at least Robins has come in and given us some hope that next season won't be an automatic slide into the Conference'.
We're not going to win every game but even if we win 3 or 4 from the remaining 11 games, interspersed with defeats, that's a darn sight better than 5 wins from 35 games or whatever it is we're on at the moment.
6 wins, 3 draws and 2 defeats would be excellent.
That would leave us ending up on 47 points and clearly relegated, but it would be a very decent run.
Thing is though, we shouldn't just look at Bury and Oldham. In many past seasons a team has fallen catastrophically from mid table into danger. There are 7 teams above the relegation zone on 43 or less.Just 3 wins, 1 draw and 6 defeats (a pretty awful run) would still bring Bury to the magical 50 point mark.
Yep, but anyone on 42 or 43 points only need a measily 7 or 8 points from 10 or 11 games. That in itself would be a terrible return, but still see them safe.Thing is though, we shouldn't just look at Bury and Oldham. In many past seasons a team has fallen catastrophically from mid table into danger. There are 7 teams above the relegation zone on 43 or less.
Yeah, I might just throw the odd ten grand it at myself.33/1 on staying up. Despite it being pretty much impossible I'm tempted to chuck a fiver on. Wasted enough money on them this year, £5 more won't make much difference!
