The Sky Blues welcome the return of Mark Robins as first-team manager with immediate effect...

The Club are pleased to announce that former boss Mark Robins will resume duties as Coventry City Manager.
Robins joins the Sky Blues on a contract which will extend beyond the current season and will be in the dugout against Bradford City for his first fixture in charge.

The appointment marks a return to the West Midlands for the 47-year old, who has spent time at Huddersfield Town and Scunthorpe United before re-joining the Sky Blues.

Mark Robins said: “I’m delighted to be given the opportunity to return to Coventry City FC and really excited by the challenge ahead.

“I know the club well and it has been especially difficult to watch the struggles of this season from afar.

“My aim is to provide a change of fortune for this football club in the long-term, and build a team not only for now, but for the future of Coventry City."

Main point from that is 'beyond the current season', an appointment aimed just at keeping us up would have been a colossal waste of time.

That's a funny way of putting it, why not say how long like usual?

Guess it stops speculation when it gets close to the end.

(or increases it!)

Do you believe SISU delivered all they promised to him? Not a chance, if they did I believe he would have stayed despite money from Hudds being thrown at him

Interesting there is no remit for survival, looks like a rebuild job ready for League 2.

Guessing they are making allowances in case of our making the play-offs.

“Everybody at Coventry City Football Club needs to be more positive. Everybody knows I’ve got an affinity for the club. I enjoyed my time with the club last time. Looking from the outside it’s been difficult to watch. Last season they looked like going up. Tony Mowbray had everybody playing good football, but that fell away towards the end. This season’s been difficult to watch.

“Everybody knows it’s a good club. It’s time to bring everybody back together.”

Agreed. And to me this is good news. Despite leaving like a pr!ck, he undoubtedly did well for us with a great 52% win rate. He now has the chance to really stamp his name on CCFCs history. Hopefully he gets cracking with planning for L2 now. Who knows, with pressure off, we might even win some games!

Think that's the sensible approach, he needs a very detailed plan in place to retain what he thinks can do a job and identify realistic league two targets that can operate weekly in that league with its demands and pitches we will play on

I'd take the 52% stat with a pinch of salt now. As we've all said we're a million miles away from that side, good attacking players and when we lost mcgoldrick we gained leon.
Go like for like in this squad now and your up against it, we all know that tho.
The bigger picture is the preparation to return with the correct players for the job in July.

I liked Robins did a good job on the pitch and made us good to watch for a while.
What I didn't like though is he fitted the owners need for someone who left keeping his trap largely shut or even loosely trying to aim punches at anyone but SISU ! They must be delighted to get another stop gap who will con the idiots for a bit longer that they actually give a shit about on field success.

The ones they will aim the ST sales at from about next month like usual...........then don't actually fund the manager until late summer, whilst they promote a few academy kids and barely put out a squad again. If the cap fits wear it !!
