After reading his angry reaction and calling out of a few players. I wonder who his wrath was aimed at? Keeper situation is worrying, maybe Hyam and Brown too?

He mentioned not being under 23s anymore so doubt its brown. My opinion was ponticelli and shipley were the targets

Just read it. Sounds like younger players. Ponticelli and Shipley/Maycock maybe.

Can't see it being any newbies, more likely people he expected to step up this season.

Agreed defo sounds like it’s aimed at newbies possibly Hyam and McDonald as well. McDonald hasn’t been the same since last jan.

My gut feeling would be that those comments are talking about:
McDonald
O'Brien
Ponticelli
Shipley
Grimmer

Can’t see how he can have a go at the kids (pont, Shipley etc). They have played a handful of games in league two and we are now in league one, and today played a championship team, just come down from the prem.

Pont couldn’t get into a league two team less than 3 months ago, he can hardly be expected to lead the line on league one

Ponticelli has looked massive in every preseason picture I've seen him, although i recognise that you can't always tell from a still picture. Shirt is hanging off him like a Sunday league footballer there. If he can bag a few goals this year though he might become our own Lee Trundle!

Score at West Brom to me was no surprise, a newly relegated Prem team at home to a sixth placed recently promoted fourth division outfit via the play-offs. But I don’t expect Robins to be overjoyed either.? First half 1-4, second half 1-1.

Robins could do with spending more time trying to sign some players that aren't full backs or central midfielders to be honest.

Our strike force and goalkeeper situation are far from ideal. Making a scapegoat of the kids is hardly fair.

Long story short, Ponti is fat?

I think Ponti has an older brother, looks exactly the same as him in the face but a fairly big lad.

To help disguise the mars bars he's stuffed in his GPSPORTS vest. I'm probably doing him a disservice, he might be a double decker man.

It's about attitude isn't it though? Just speculating but if they've been told to step up and they've come back unfit or not followed instructions I can see why he's be pissed. There's basics you expect regardless of quality.

He's one of them who if they didn't play football would be huge. He is pretty stocky and will have a lower body fat then most on here.

West Brom have some good players, way above our level on ridiculous wages.

Plus probably 4 or 5 of our starting XI today won't start next week so I'm really not at all fussed about the score today.

I get what he means about ‘this isn’t the under 23’s anymore’ but I think he’s being a little over the top

We were poor, yes, but we were beaten by the better team. They have quality, we have what we have.

I don’t think his criticism would be aimed at O’Brien out of the lists mentioned about, mainly because he’s not come through the ranks but also I think Burge would have conceded just as many in the first half with what was in front of or goal. Second half was a very different set up and it showed we can play.

You’re right, two months ago they were Premier league and we were league 2. I thought they looked a very strong side, big and physical, and skillful with it. I expect they will go straight back up. On the plus side it was a hell of a work out for us, and will hopefully have sharpened us up for next week. Our defence was worryingly weak in the first half, we did improve in the second.
