I dunno. He’s never played for Palace in the league, I think that says a lot because it’s not just the manager. He was signed under Hodgson.

it’s not like he wasn’t getting into a really good team either, Palace at the time were pretty average.

A lot of talk of experience, played 30 once for Arsenal in 20/21. Half that since then and nothing since September ‘23. Majority of his career has not been playing.

If Palace are covering a decent chunk of wages and are happy to just get him out it can’t hurt for a 6 month loan, could go either way but we haven’t lost out. I wouldn’t be jumping for joy if it’s some kind of loan with obligation to buy in the summer at this stage

The reason until the falling out is he didn't play for palace is they had very good pl cbs and still do

The fact he wasn't good enough for a PL team doesn't mean he wouldn't be a very good championship cb

What level of player do people expect

SBT - "We needs loans, we need experience."
Also SBT when there's a rumour of an experienced player on loan - "No not like that!"

End of the day he's only 29 which is a good age, experienced without being in danger of being past it. Also was at Arsenal for years, and not in the way Chelsea keep people around and loan them out forever but was actually around to play, as backup sure but Arsenal do not use you at all over so many years if you're total shite.
To me its clear this could be a very good signing for a Championship club and a loan to see out the season, without committing to anything long term yet, makes sense.

"Sources with knowledge of the dispute have told BBC Sport that there was a disagreement about a post-match running session following Holding's last involvement in the first team. He was an unused substitute in a 2-0 home defeat by West Ham on 24 August."

What's this then?

Glasner - unused subs go for a post match run
Holding - Fuck off
Glasner - off to the reserves for you then pal

If the rumours are true I'd think he'd be an excellent addition once he's up to speed. Not sure what people are expecting really, someone on Van Dijk's level?

It was test match between England & The West Indies. English batsman Peter Willey , Windies bowler Michael Holding . I think that Brian Johnson the commentator ( who loved pranks like this ) had come up with up the line " The bowler's Holding the batsmen's Willey " well in advance of the game

Bolton was ten years ago and his debut season! And he only played 26 times not a full season. 20/21 he played 30 games for Arsenal which is by far the most, next two were the next two seasons at 15 and 14 appearances.

More appearances for Arsenal than the rest of our back line to be fair.
I get your point though, he's been around for years and has less actual game time than players much younger than him.

As long as the wages are right I think it's something that could be a good move for us.

Take the positives... matches wise... he's a 'young 29'... unlike players who have played 50 games a season from 18.

Whether that's true or not...

I mean we desperately need quality at CB so agreed. Just still need that leader and standards setter that I think we all assumed would be the CB.

Agree with this to an extent. However genetics and how a player looks after themselves are also important.

With this attitude and his lack of games, has he got it in him to show the determination and desire that we are currently lacking and needs in key areas such as this?

Hopefully, if not it’s a loan and we we’ve lost nothing. If it works and we have a option, we have a great CB who can provide prem experience to our younger lads

He'd be a quality signing and anyone saying otherwise ain't got a clue.

Literally back up to Saliba and Gabriel a few seasons ago. And people are saying he's not got the pedigree to play in the team instead of someone like latibeaudiere.

Honestly has fans we have to remember who we are and where we've come from. Two years ago we had Dabo filling in at CB ffs

I don't think anyone has questioned his ability or pedigree, more the fact he hasn't played in almost 2 years.

Play off chasing sides or a side who at best will finish mid-table
