Who are they? Not getting carried away but stats suggest we are a real contender for an automatic spot. So who are we up against?

For me there obviously loads of teams in playoff contention but not many you wold expect to be fighting for top 2. Normally 3-4 max in that race.

Obviously we can only go on 9 games so far but for me:

Boro - top 2 contender
Leicester top 2 contender
Preston playoffs max
Stoke top 2 contender
QPR great run but I think playoffs only
West brom good team but playoffs
Birmingham playoffs max
Wrexham playoffs max
Swansea playoffs max
Sheff utd autos gone. Big run maybe playoffs
Southampton top 2 contebder
Ipswich top 2 contender
Millwall playoffs max
Watford playoffs max
Bristol city playoffs max despite good few years

So that leaves us with

Cov
Boro
Stoke
Leicester
Ipswich
Southampton

As top 2 contenders in my humble opinion.

Leicester possible points decision and reliance on wingers?

Ipswich and soton started slow and if we keep winning it puts pressure on them to break out on a run sooner rather than later

Stoke Boro are outsiders(like us) but I think we look better than them

I'm not saying we will definitely win the league but......we have a chance and I'm sorry but I can't stop thinking about it.

Mostly agree. I'd expect Stoke to fall off though. I find it hard to look beyond Leicester and Ipswich for the autos, despite heart wanting to rule head.

It has all gone quiet in relation to the points deduction though for Leicester. I would assume that would be 6 points or there or there abouts which puts them at 9 points behind us (if they get a 6 pointer)

I think the Coventry fan pessimism comes out on here. It would be interesting to read what every other teams fan base believe about odds on promotion etc

Just said on another thread the EPL case against them is due to start this side of Christmas apparently.

I'm so sad I've been on most forums to read their 'Championship 25/26' threads. Literally 99% of the comments think we will run away with the league. Its a very bizarre situation we find ourselves in atm.

Although I’m absolutely chuffed and buzzing, please let us stay grounded. We had 19 points after 9 games in 21-22 and finished 12th. Don’t want to look too far ahead.

Stoke won’t be in contention for autos, they’ll do very well to be in the play-off mix at the end of the season.

Robins could keep them solid enough possibly. They looked good Vs Boro second half.

In a perfect world cov runs way with top spot and we can root for robins to get second

Things change very quickly in this league.
Leicester, despite their perceived poor start, and our runaway start, are right on our tails.

Sunderland sprinted out the gates in similar fashion last season and racked up enough points to secure a playoff spot even with a big drop off in form later on. Get all the points on the board we can while we're in this rich vein of form, then when we hit a rough patch which we will at some point it can act as a bit of a buffer.

Didn't see it.
Their owners also have deep pockets so could back him if they're still doing well going into the new year but I think they'll drop off a bit.

I've got it into my head that it's a thin squad and reliant on both wingers staying fit

Not sure if that's true though in reality

Could be talking about us tbf lol. But they also lack a striker

Also manager wise I don't know enough about cuiftentes

We know Robins, Edward's and McKenna can do it across a whole season

Still did well in France but big job for him

Love Robins but hate Stoke, it's a tough one. I'd like to see him using it as a platform to get a job at a club I don't despise

If we are to be auto contenders this season then Ipswich and Leicester are the two teams I’d expect to be our biggest rivals.

Not really bothered how they do.
Was glad they stayed up because its a close away game but one I'm going to miss this season now anyway!

Ours is a thin squad in the same position as you say. We get to January in contention for the top 2 I'll be very happy indeed, but we will need to manage certain players carefully

Mrs BSB's family live there so we go most seasons. It's a real shit away day though, and their gambling tycoon owners can get to fuck.

It is a shit away day, but it's a shit away day that's 60 miles up the road rather than one of numerous shit away days that are 2 or 3 times the distance.

Ya fair enough. It's hard to guage. Maybe in blinded by the robins aspect of it and a good second half Vs Boro but if in gonna have Boro up there I had to put stoke there

Also hopefully in the coming weeks and months we can eliminate teams from the shortlist and increase our odds even more!

But, but, but, we haven't played any 'top' team yet and will struggle against them!!!! ( some doom-mongers on here).
Just enjoy every minute of this feeling, however long it lasts and let those games come as they will.

WE are a good side no matter what our pessimists say!!!
