Sing a song for jimmy hill.
May you never let me go.
You'll always be at City with me.
(Repeat)

Same as Exeter song for Stanno, would be a great tribute.

Barbara Slater, BBC Director of Sport added: "Jimmy Hill was an iconic and unique figure and we are all deeply saddened by the news.

"He was one of the great innovators and a huge talent, a man ahead of his time with a personality that dominated his era both in football and broadcasting.

"Jimmy was also a dear friend and colleague to many at the BBC and will be greatly missed."

Some of the other ideas Hill helped make a reality included establishing a player's right to freedom of movement at the end of his contract and the introduction of three points for a win.

He also commissioned the first English all-seater stadium, lifted a ban on media interviews, introduced the first electronic scoreboard in 1964 and the first colour match-day programme.

The former Brentford and Fulham forward was appointed Coventry manager in November 1961, leading the Sky Blues to the Division Three and Division Two titles.

There is a statue of Hill at Coventry's Ricoh Arena where he was also chairman - a role he also had at Fulham and Charlton.

Such sad news! Too young to remember any of his work, but I think Legend just about covers it from everything we've heard over the times!

RIP Sir Jimmy!

Knew they would, but who cares. It's just a few and they're scum. Most Sunderland fans will be human about it.

Don't post on here often anymore, but must make an exception to add to the condolences in this thread.
Not many guys around who did so much not only for one club, but for the whole of football.
The world is a poorer place without Jimmy Hill.

"Everyone at the club is in a state of shock and deep sadness at hearing the news of Jimmy’s death.

“History tells us that without the efforts of Jimmy, both on the pitch and off it, Coventry City’s future will have been extremely different from what it is today.

“There are very few examples which can contend with the amount Jimmy achieved at the club during such a small amount of time. He was a forward-thinker and a revolutionary who was determined to take Coventry and football forwards.

“The changes he made gave the club, the City and the supporters an identity and a club they can be proud of, and for that, the club will be eternally grateful.”

The most influential and iconic manager we will probably ever have.

Never mind black armbands, we should be wearing a completely black kit.

Nice article on the BBC site: http://www.bbc.com/sport/0/football/22268587

Far too many people are given the title 'Legend'

But this man deserves this title, for everything he did for football and more importantly COVENTRY CITY.

True COVENTRY CITY LEGEND.

True FOOTBALL LEGEND.

R.I.P. JIMMY HILL.

"Hill did not have to wait as long to implement some of his other suggestions, which also included better facilities and more entertainment for fans, after being appointed manager of Coventry in December 1961 at the age of 33."

"His first act was to lift a 10-year club ban on players talking to the press."

"Hill's priority was to make the local community feel part of City's success - he made a point of using 'we' whenever he referred to the club - to the extent he considered exploding a huge firework or mortar shell on the half-way line to alert the whole of the city every time they scored, and only dropped the idea when he realised it would endanger the lives of fans and players."

LOL, I love that firework idea. Some kind of BOOM that echoes throughout the City when we score a goal! Just not from the pitch of course.

This guy was truly ahead of his time.
