Think he was above average in most in possession stats last season.

Always willing to receive the ball and tries to do the right thing with it.

Had a number of costly errors that stick in peoples minds though.

Bobby Thomas isn’t bad either (yes, I know people will disagree with me on this).

Not likely to the level that CovUSA is describing though.

From the bookies list Keane, Bloomfield and Eustace in work - not sure they fit Dougs `elite tactician' profile

So Ive immediately convinced myself we're bagging Holsten Von Viking from some Scando/Lowlands league with a 60% win ratio instead

I hope the same, Hammarby head coach Kim Hellberg is my European pick and domestically it's Carlos Corberan.

If we got Corberan, there is zero doubt we would get promoted within the next 18 or so months.

The guy will come up fix up the defence and will then prioritise siging a Centre Back, Left Back and a Central Midfielder.

For me he is the only realistic option on the table that would make me turn around and say fair fucking play Doug, you've Got rid of a club legend but have replaced him with one of the elite coaches in this league.

Yeah regardless of manager it’s obvious the squad needs a left back and centre mid, if only to have the numbers

No way CC leaves WBA to come to us. Crazy.
He was linked to/allegedly turned down Leicester in the summer.

If we go with someone who’s out of work then all of the signs point to Lampard. Otherwise, if Doug wants somebody who’s already in work, a final shortlist of Carsley, Eustace or Séllés?

As many know, MLS / America is my area of expertise. There is one manager that any overseas club would be crazy not to consider right now.

Wilfried Nancy (Columbus) - French coach who is by far and away the best tactical manager currently in North America. Absolutely brilliant. The two teams he has managed experienced immediate improvement. He plays a high-possession beautiful brand of football. Honestly, I think he is destined for a Ligue 1 job sooner rather than later.

The only downside for his fit with Coventry would be that it would likely require a bit remaking of the backline. He absolutely demands that his CDs be able to pass and be excellent with their feet to the point that he often plays only one true CD with the LCD and RCD being converted fullbacks.

Glad to see there's another member of the Wilfried Nancy fan club here. He's absolutely my top pick for the job too.

Would this guy even be on our radar?
How would Austin/King/Roberts be aware of him!? (How are you even aware of him!?)
Also, I wonder if they are only accepting applicants - would they actively seek out a potential candidate?

If we're using StatsBomb and our analytics department, he would definitely show up in the search as a high-performing manager.
If we're just going through CVs on the table, then it's not going to happen. But I would really, really hope that we are being proactive and contacting managers in jobs to see if they'd be interested.

(I know about him as I have a small interest in MLS and watched a YouTube video last year about how his tactics are killing it in MLS and how he's potentially the best coach outside Europe right now)

I hope we are using a more informed approach...
Not sure what the legalities would be on approaching managers/coaches in work...!?
Guessing we'd have to offer compo and the current club be on board...?!

Got to be honest if it’s domestic, would love to see us go for Skubala at Lincoln. Really good attacking manager who if I’m not wrong was a coach at our youth academy.

i really hope it’s not Carsley.

Won a competition with an already insanely talented group and apart from that has zero real club experience.

Also seems a quite fairly drab character, just doesn’t particularly excite me

I know according to all mainstream media ie Talksport, Sky Sports etc Frank Lampard has basically got the job, I just for some reason don't think he will be appointed.

I genuinely believe King's words, and it was something along the lines of "a top quality coach".

If Doug is in fact a man of his word and means exactly what he stated, then Lampard won't fit that criteria.

Based on his track record, he has never achieved anything that would would fall into the category of being a 'top quality coach'

I think most of us are all in the same camp regarding Lampard becoming head coach, negative and a huge risk, some of the fans are neither here or there, again this isn't significantly supportive of Lampard either.

From the get go there will be a very divided opinion of him, and the divide being either completely against to not sure but not impressed.

As an example, all it would take is Lampard coming in and over a period of 10 games, recording 2 wins, 4 or 5 draws and 3 or 4 losses.

Thia would be enough for us paying fans to be tipped over the edge and it would become very toxic, and I strongly believe Doug King is absolutely aware of this. So for anyone in Doug King's position, Lampard seems a very very risky appointmet.

He did a bit in our academy whilst still working as a teacher,I like his profile a lot tbh but note that he doesn't even feature in the betting market (which is odd).
I reckon Frank Lampard & Jody Morris are nailed on in truth.

How many times have we appointed a manager already in a job?

I can think of Pressley?

Robbie Keane isn’t employed he left Tel Aviv after one season having won a cup.
Lee Carsley for me won’t last if appointed, his experience is working with U21s and to be fair Englands youth setup is blessed with hugely talented kids. He doesn’t have the experience of managing adults and hasn’t been great as interim (I know only a couple of games) for England.
Lampard for me isn’t ideal either but he did have a great season at Derby albeit ending in failure and a great go at Chelsea first time round.
Ruud VN has done well at UTD and did well at PSV, seems passionate and to really love the game. He is young and good be a show stopper but I feel is out of our reach.
Matt Bloomfield is young but has had a good almost half season so far so jury is still out.
