He was wearing a retro brown away top.

If he’s actually staying there it’s a pretty good indication and his odds have shortened over the last day.

I don't mind Big Sam but I think he is past his sell by date

He can't even cling to the fact he's never been relegated now - Although Leeds were a busted flush by the time they got him in

Those Chelsea and Everton sides cost astronomical amounts, (I'm fairly sure the Derby one did by Championship standards), and he did fuck all with them.
Rooney may be useless, but seeing cutting about resembling a functioning alcoholic ground worker always puts,a smile on my face so at least I'd have that

Probably been said elsewhere but to be fair to lampard both of those clubs were (are ?) dysfunctional shitshows. Many more experienced managers have failed at both

Can’t argue with the Rooney comment

Better track record that's for sure.

I would rather have Carsley than Lampard to be honest.

I'm not sure he is past his sell by date. He's still on a mission to complete the quest of managing all 92 clubs in the football league and he's still got 2 or 3 clubs to go.

Really don’t see the appeal with Carsley. Had an overpowered u21 team, fluffed his chance with senior team and has no real experience managing at club level.

Weird one this.

I really don't want lampard anywhere near the club, but at the same time I can see why this would be an attractive option, and it could just work.

With you.

Initially, I was a hard no but after thinking about it I have convinced myself it may work...

Lampard has been whoring himself around for a job the last year and a half and none of the other championship teams would touch him with a barge pole.

I’m not sure that is a fair statement. After Derby his stock was high, but In hindsight, he moved too soon to a club like Chelsea and the Everton stint didn’t do his career a lot of good either.

Truth be told he is probably a very good coach, but the big clubs will not go for him until he has properly proved himself. As Harry says , he needs to drop a league and show what he can do. It might be that the timing for us and him is spot on and we could be a really good fit, hopefully he would learn from leaving Derby too soon.

I know we moan about some of the players but we have got a really decent championship squad, and I think a good coach could unlock better performance out of them. Since the FA Cup we have been underperforming massively and really inconsistent. This suggests something was not right at Ryton, and whether the cause was MR or the one of the other theories including “soft” players, too much control from other back room elements we will probably never know, BUT we have a chance for everyone to start with a clean slate.

if Lampard comes (and he’s not my first choice), I think he could do a really good job, and I’ll certainly get behind him. I personally would have trusted Robins to get us away from the relegation zone, but I’m not blinkered to the fact there are many good managers / coaches that would do a good job for us. The club is bigger than one man and the club will go onwards and upwards. PUSB!!

Gary Lineker backs Frank Lampard as Gareth Southgate successor

Gary Lineker has backed Frank Lampard to succeed Gareth Southgate as England manager.
sports.yahoo.com

Remember listening to this pod at the time. Lineker, Shearer and Richards were extremely impressed with Lampards knowledge.

I know it doesn't translate to managerial ability but Lampard is a clever, level-headed bloke who's played and managed under the highest pressure. I can't see him being phased by Coventry fans losing their heads.

Ultimately, with the outrage, we need someone who is going to be able to work under extreme pressure and anger.

No, I don't get it.

Surely if you are looking for a coach to fit into the club structure, who has to work with the team already in place
The dismissal statement says 'the position will be that of Head Coach working within the new structure set up by the Club over the last two years'

It's the structure, not necessarily the personnel. If whoever comes in has any kind of clout (Lampard, say) they will want to populate the structure with at least some of their own people.

I don’t claim to be a Itk so pinch of salt. But heard the U21 coaches will be moved back. So would imagine there’s room for a AM based on us looking at Chris Ramsey and one coach.

Football insider (So take with pinch of salt) reporting Lampard talks are going to take place and he is front runner

But that we are also interested in Sheehan and potentially prizing Eustace away from Blackburn

Frank Lampard in Coventry City talks as Championship manager joins race -sources

Football Insider understands Frank Lampard is the top contender to take over Coventry City but John Eustace also a candidate

Ifkr. Where the h*ll has that come from!?Replacing Robins with someone with no managerial experience would be the maddest thing ever.

Frank - post Chelsea (1st time) he has taken on jobs that have done him no favours so I suspect he has been more choosy of late... Would feel a very "look, I'm friends with famous people appointment" from Doug.

Please God not Lampard, Butt or Henderson. Eustace or Bloomfield over those 'big' names every day. Football coaching has changed and it's more about complex tactics, sports science, psychology and biology nowadays.

Seems to get the best out of what he’s got. Motivator. Fadz can give our defenders the kick up the arse they need.

I remember seeing a post by a Blackburn fan, it was a pic of Fadz on the sidelines barking out orders to the defenders from Eustace, he was there giving them support and guidance to see a game out, the caption was:

'I can see why Fadz was so loved by Cov fans'

We don't have that experience to manage the young lads on the pitch or an older head barking Robins orders from the sidelines , I miss Fadz and one day I hope he returns in some capacity.
