Why did no club appoint Robins for 14 months? Sometimes managers turn down jobs or don’t get the offers.

Doesn’t mean that they can’t be successful

I’m sure he’s been turning down jobs to wait for the Coventry City one you’re right

So childish. If it's not robins it's pure crap clearly. Could have pep lined up and you would complain let's be honest.

Robins has gone kiddos. You gotta move on

6 wins in the league before the end of october and 3 wins in the same period, they then had 1 more league win and 1 more euro in that calendar year.

they'd fallen right off the cliff by the last 10 games

From Reddit re lamps

People completely crap on the good work he did for Chelsea in his 1st stint. He isn't a bad manager. He's just had his jobs at the times nobody else would take them. Not once has he had what anyone could consider as a normal season. There is a smart manager in there:

- Top 4 against the odds with the weakest Abramovich era squad.

- Tapped the academy properly where other big name managers had failed for years. Basically adding billions in future value to Chelsea. This is also a big part of why the new owners bought Chelsea and saved the club after the Putin invasion sanctions. It could be very different had the academy not been realised properly before then.

- 2nd season had a 17 game unbeaten run until the December where they were the only club to not be granted a postponement break for a Covid outbreak. So while everyone else had rest periods Chelsea had to push on. A couple of players experienced long Covid. Injuries also picked up enough to limit squad rotation. Fatigue inevitably rocketed with 3 away games over the Christmas period with the most congested fixtures in football history due to lockdowns.

- It was the squad Lampard built that proved capable of winning the CL in the end.

Everton were broken before Lampard went in. Rafa Benitez said that he couldn't believe just how bad off they were financially. Thats why Lampard was left with Neil Maupay up front and they sold Gordon in January with no replacement. Dyche has had the same troubles. They can defend but the head of recruitment has left that club with no sting up front so they can't win.

Then Lampard came into Chelsea again and because again nobody wanted the job at that point. It was an impossible job with the hardest run of fixtures in the PL plus 2 Real games. They also had no morale left, low fitness, no cohesion and a slew of injuries in key areas. To say Lampard failed when his job was more to consult on how to get the club back on track is just incredibly ignorant.

Lampard isn’t my first choice but 2bh he did a good job at Derby and he managed Chelsea through their transfer embargo. Brought through Mount and Reece James - I think Conor Gallagher come through him.

Everton are a basket case and he kept them up there.

reputation wise - he’d command the respect of the players instantly.
I've seen people mention the good job at Derby, but he got loaned a load of very good players by Chelsea that were way better than most teams in the league. And they didn't go up. And as Doug doesn't seem to want loanees that kind of puts paid to that connection.

Chelsea at that time should have been top 4 minimum. So while you maybe can't call it a failure it certainly wasn't a success. And his second stint as caretaker he won 1 in 11. Same with Everton. They have been poor for some time but his time there could be consider acceptable at best, which with winning around 1 in 4 matches is probably generous.

There are plenty of worse candidates, but I feel there are likely to be many far better.

If he gets the job of course I want him to do well. I'm just far from convinced he will. I don't see anything in his managerial record that suggests he will have any more than Robins to get us over the line.

seen Some strange comments about if it is lampard that’s not a bad CV is it ?
managed Chelsea youth team
got derby to a play off final
got Chelsea to an FA cup final and finished 4th in the premier league
kept Everton up
likes to bring academy players through
id Be happy with any manager with that record, he’s done it at the top level

No, I don't get it.

Surely if you are looking for a coach to fit into the club structure, who has to work with the team already in place, you wouldn't want to bring in a high- profile name who would want to bring his own staff with him.

To my mind, it needs to be a lesser-known figure and someone on the up, who is happy to work under the set conditions.

Surely Lampard would want his own backroom staff wouldn't he?

Jody Morris has followed him everywhere, as has Joe Edwards who had a brief stint managing Millwall last season

Can see those coming in being a pretty non-negotiable on his part

If what was posted by someone else on here about King wanting a new manager to work with what is already here then I just can't see it being Lampard

That being said, you just don't randomly shorten from 4/1 to 5/6 during the night without there being some legs to the rumour

Maybe the owner has seen the backlash and knows that he has to get this right, so is perhaps willing to back down ever so slightly on his terms and afford Lampard what he wants

Agree on the bringing his own staff with him, if It is lampard I’m sure he’ll have some of his own terms if he gets the job, whoever Doug chooses it’s a gamble, if your a manager out of a job in November it’s for a good reason, sounds like your right, we went for the wycombe manager but he’s staying,

I think it refers to the structure rather than the actual staff. We’d likely keep some of them on and get rid of a few to accommodate someone new.
