Lampard isn’t stupid, he’s an intelligent, articulate man. He’s not my first choice but none of the names mentioned are. Out of all them Lampard is the best option. I just wish we weren’t in this predicament

I wanted Mark Robins to stay for the exact reason we are going on about now where nobody can come up with a decent alternative that isn’t totally unrealistic (e.g. potter/Moyes), a complete failure (e.g. Lampard, Carsley) or completely unproven (e.g. Bloomfield, Sheehan)

I get you wanted him to stay. But he’s gone.

I don’t think you can say Lampard is a failure.

I do agree about Bloomfield and Sheehan. Unproven and they’re not ready.

Lampard isn’t a failure, loads of managers underachieved at Chelsea after spending millions

Lampard is highly thought of in the places that matter, I would prefer Carsley as a lot of the fans know him from his days here. I dont mind either as long as its not someone from a lower league which is why Lampard would possibly be first choice with DK as he has league experience. The bigger issue for me is can they get a ball playing midfielder in for January who can get us playing forward. Both in my opinion would attract good players.

Robins didn’t achieve anything of note with any of the clubs before he came to us.

I guess you can look at it like this.

He’s a young manager with champions league experience with who on paper suits the players we have and he will have connections to get others is.

Also got a proven track record with developing younger talent. Also with a manager with a name can see Doug listening to him.

Don’t want it but maybe we’re being too harsh

That was with an absolute basket case with Everton. How was he at Derby as feel that’s more representative

Did he have a say in any of that,by the way how's it going for them nowadays, bit of an ownership tussle between the Chinese and American owners at the start of the season I read!

Weird one this.

I really don't want lampard anywhere near the club, but at the same time I can see why this would be an attractive option, and it could just work.

Mark Robins 32% win ratio at Scunthorpe and 33% at Huddersfield was a real indicator on how he was gonna do with us wasn’t it

Yeah - bizarre weekend that was, Slade was sacked Sunday afternoon and I’m sure we announced Robins later on that night

Robins was definitely announced mid afternoon on the Sunday, I can’t remember when Slade was sacked (possibly on the Sunday morning?). It was the first good news we had had all season.

I’m aware - I’m just saying win ratio’s at inidividual clubs isn’t a fully telling story is it

If you care to go back far enough there were plenty of Cov fans saying they didn’t want Robins back cause he ‘snaked’ us the first time and Scunthorpe fans laughing at us for appointing him

funny how things pan out

Do you mean Jan 2025 or the start of 2025/26.

I don’t like the idea of hiring Lampard and as soon as he hits a rut, the knives will be out. He had 2 good seasons at a Derby, Chelsea and he became a laughing stock.

Start of 25/26.

You know I’m gonna get shit on for this.

But when Mark came back it was following him begging to work at Notts county behind the scenes and they told him to do one.

Being successful at other clubs or not being successful isn’t a guide in football. Mark is the best manager in our clubs recent history. At Scunthorpe, he’s just another on a long list of failures.

See I’m actually open to a left field choice such as Bloomfield and Sheehan. I’m basing this on the research has been done and they’re tactically astute. Robbie Keane I’ve kept tabs on and would take him

Research has been done on our signings and reaching peak performance etc. so it's not the be all and end all
