Are DK and the board thinking they need a bigger name to attract the type of players they are looking at? Missed out on a few targets in the summer was working with Robins not a big enough pull? Not saying it was all down to this but maybe a factor.

Before anyone says anything I think Robins should have had more time I’m just posing the question.

He was given a lot of games to show improvement. He’s gone whether we like it or not. Yes, it would be great to hit the ground running. After all, it’s a results business.

I totally agree with you FF, points in your post I’ve argued myself on here, but I do see that potential candidates looking at City from the outside could be put off by how MR has been treated.

Gyokeres and Hamer got videos to the fans and especially designed images by the club to thank them, Robins who has done more than any player got nothing in reality.

Yes, but that’s the extent of their involvement. And the manager has full say over everything football related in a normal club setup. But if you appoint people the manager can’t sack then you take responsibility over their areas of performance too.

When you’re a multimillion pound franchise that’s ticking along most seasons I can see the appeal of stability. When you’re a scrappy upcoming club punching above its weight ripping what’s working out and replacing it relies on you being able to pick better on average than what you’ve got.

Although I’d point out Pep is a manager, not a head coach.

Ultimately I don’t get why Robins gets seven years of results then 8 months is enough for him to go, but those brought in more recently don’t go first.

The manager having full control is on its way out now though at most clubs

And king sees robins as the issue not the new coaches clearly

Nobody think Boateng was brought in as a possible replacement? He’s had limited experience as a manager, but has held several roles as coach and even assistant manager for Ghana.
wouldn’t be my choice, but i could see it being an option being considered.

I accept Ghana don't have great players like in the past, but they were pretty shit when Boateng was there. Hence he was rejected for the managers job.

Well Kings an idiot and the fact we weren’t most clubs was until recently the best thing we had going for us.

Why? We kept the last one 7 years. If they are good why would we sack them after a few months

Why? Because that's what happens at so many clubs and happened to us prior to Robins.

It's not a stretch to believe that may well happen again.

You've answered your own question too. We kept the last one for 7 years.

That was a rarity, hence him being one of the longest serving managers on the game.

7 years is totally against the grain of the norm.

Sisu were shit at everything off the pitch and uninvolved on it, Doug is shit at half the on pitch and half the off pitch stuff and frankly even the off pitch stuff he’s good at is mostly signing cheques.

How? Chopping and changing managers can still work for a club overall

I'm not saying I want to go back to that. I'm just saying if new manager doesnt last 7 years it doesn't mean the club will be in turmoil

I’d expect a coach who is going to push us to the next level. Can work in this modern day coaching set up and get the most out of an expensive squad. I’d like an ambitious move for someone like Jacob Neestrup.

It can, yes. It's usually a merry go round though because it normally doesn't.

Could be argued if we didn't sack so much we would have been relegated to league 1 far far earlier

Surely a new coach will want new players in, will he have a say though, I can't work out who will be looking for targets, King, recruitment or the Head coach.

Fadz might be an idea, along with a director of football for added experience.
It might at least please some of the fans.
