So you think if there was a deal out there for Wasps to buy CCFC, and it could make money for the cold hard businessmen or women that own it, they would seriously turn it down because of the shit we spout on this fourm?

I doubt it.

Why would they seriously want it?

Wish they would anything bar the idiots we have now.

We could use the wasps home kit as our second kit and they could use ours as theirs.

Because although you don't want to sell at "the bottom of a business cycle" thats the ideal time to buy.

But MGI are in the entertainment/casino business. Wasps is their first ever sports franchise and helped them secure the Ricoh (with it's casino etc).

MGI are far more likely to sell Wasps in the future than buy CCFC IMO. They have no track record in sports franchises and one is probably more than enough for them now.

Even if they sell/re-franchise Wasps elsewhere, they will still own the Ricoh.

That's an interesting concept...

Any examples of other casinos owned by them?

I'm not sure I've seen anyone mention the financial restraints that exist for both clubs.

Wasps have a wage salary cap enforced on them by the Premiership. CCFC have the FFP. So Wasps are limited in how much they can invest into their club and the more CCFC make they can invest more. If they came under one umbrella they could both benefit. Lets face it both clubs have the ability to be successful and make money if run properly ( I know we can only dream of that with SISU in charge). That is surely what MGI want so I think it is feasible that a merger of the clubs could be worth a look at. Plus, if CCFC do leave for there own ground the rental income from CCFC becomes a non isssue.

I might be naive or ill informed but I would be interested to hear peoples perspectives.

Wasp salary cap is still the size of our entire league one turnover (c£5.5m), and also 2 players can be excluded from his, so they could easily sign 2 big stars on huge money and add 50% to that cap. There's also talk of scrapping the cap altogether.

Also spending % of turnover on wages (FFP) is only in leagues one and two, and as soon as you get promoted its allowable losses, which they have increased from £5m to £13m per annum. So the model you talk about is only viable in league one. Wasps would need to invest significantly just to survive in the championship, let alone whack in the £13m per annum to push for promotion, all along the back drop of maximising they're rugby wage bill, getting some stars in to ensure bums on seats at the rugby.

I think Wasps are capped (like the others) at £4.76M so that appears to be regardless of income. Obviously they would want to be in profit.
FL cap is % of income, in effect Wasps could let us have a proportion of income without a direct effect on their wage cap.
I think it pays for them to get the balance right to encourage CCFC to stay but make a small but not total profit from them.

Guessing though, as I don't know what the current ACL agreement with CCFC is.
But as SISU have requested an extension to 5 years I'm hoping it suits the club by providing incomes and can be made into a permanent agreement.

This thread isn't about rental agreement it's about whether wasps will buy ccfc. And whilst you are technically right about wasps wage bill not affected by turnover, there are lot of other costs and it's about funding their entire operating costs, not just the wage bill. The whole reason they moved here.

£5.5m plus 2 players excluded.

Seems pointless then as they have categorically said that they will not buy CCFC.

Would anyone seriously expect them to come out with any other statement at this stage?

Great. Literally can't wait. It will save me a few quid when I give up my ST, at least I'll be able to dedicate more time to golf.
