Still one of the things that irks me about the Ricoh. There's a bloody train line running alongside it and the ground been open almost 10 years, I cannot believe it has taken this long.

I'll still only believe it when I see it.

So true!

It is one of the main downsides that many concert revellers complained about... the transportation to the stadium was a bitch.

well finally getting there... unless the CCC blow it.

Wonder whether It would be worth considering the GODIVA festival there ,keep the Earlsdon vote quiet?

The Earlsdon vote is keep it at The Memorial Park. There are very few objectors, just the few tiresome voices each year. Don't know why they don't just book a weekend away?

People will not commit with the risk of the JR having potential implications for ACL, however minimal.

I think the football footfall only on 25 odd days a year does not warrant it.
I think it would be more for commuters that could park in the Arena car parks and commute away to London Birmingham etc.

Plus people prefer to travel to the shopping complex by car.
Same with Bermuda.

Can't see why it should cost so much just to drop a platform in.

Conversely though you could argue (and these are pure approximations, to which I may be doing the train station a disservice) 5000 use it each match day, so thats 125,000 passengers a year purely for football and not even thinking about the shopping, exhibition centre, concerts and casino. Surely a good reason to have one there?

Having worked at various similar venues around Europe It's invaluable In terms of getting to the cultural /entertainment/accommodation quarters of the City ,if there are any.

Invariably those cities generally have undergrounds or tram systems ,meaning the local populace are making full use of them ,not sure one line with a couple of stops will achieve this ,but might reduce the need to construct Hotels etc on site If the City Is more within reach and cuts out the need for a Taxi.

Agreed, also it's chicken and egg, make it easier to get to and more things will be put on, needing more transport capacity.

Frankly if we came back I'd go by train, far easier than fucking about avoiding car park stewards.

People keep mentioning Weber Shandwick,its my understanding ACL have only used them once,they now rely on another firm for their pr, a company called SISU much more effective.

There's a lack of stadium tours this summer so it's the same for many other venues. Just one of those things that happens every few years as different artists use different touring cycles. Pretty certain it doesn't reflect in any way on the Ricoh which is very highly regarded as a concert venue.

I agree, the train station would make it far more lucrative to me especially as I am now going to be living further away from Coventry.

You only have to remember the nightmare that was that JPT 1st leg against Crewe. It was chaos. God forbid we ever get successful or popular.

To be fair, the gated area wasn't the worst idea. £4 a pint is excessive but it does keep the completely pissed up trouble causing youth in the fairground zone.

Spot on, a lot of medium sized bands will play safe and stick to tried and tested venues like the Institute or the O2. No real big albums out so no big tours and a lot of them saving themselves for the festival season. Doing Bestival myself this year as not one I've been to before.

To be fair it was all planned, costed, and funded to be built at the same time as the Ricoh I believe only for the SRA and the DfT to say "No" . The really stupid thing is the Nuneaton line had no trains at the weekend for years after the Ricoh opened due to engineering work further down the line.

Interesting the only reason Byng and his Chinese pals were apparantly interested in the Ricoh is so they good build the railways around there.

Well if they start developing it there isn't much hope for the mysterious Chinese investors!
