We will be back at the Ricoh next season. It's as simple as apple pie because it makes even more sense now than ever before. It will be good for WASP, it will be good for Coventry, it will be good for the council, it will be good for the City of Culture......what's not to like?

None of those are new facts

When has the city council ever given a pigs burp about Coventry and the people it’s supposed to represent?

...they don't which is why I said it would be good for them.

How will it be good for the council given the lease clauses regarding sub tenants?

tbf I was not aiming it with any of that in mind - just merely the goodwill opportunity for all sides was the point I was making.
And yes there are plenty of issues to sort, but there is no reason why that can't be done.

It doesn't help that those who get in the door seem to suffer memory loss to ask about the indemnity or forget what the answer was when they get out.

That’s true, but at the moment Wasps are only talking to certain people and only saying what they want. Ultimately both sides will tell us what they want, when they want. Let’s just hope the mix of corona and promotion is enough to soften some stances.

Surley it dosent take that long to thrash out a deal - The many previous meetings Wasps and CCFC have held must give an indication of what party wants what - The stumbling block last time was -Coventry City/Sisu must underwrite – and pay for – any Wasps losses that could potentially flow from Sisu’s complaint to the European Commission concerning Coventry City Council’s 2014 deal to sell the Ricoh Arena to then London Wasps. Just thinking out of the box like...The Ricoh is now 15 years old and will need maintaining and updating more and more which will cost either Wasps or the council large sums of money they both dont have especially if we are to have a bad few years of recession. Its a stadium ffs so either Wasps play there or CCFC play there. I doubt another show from out of town will come and take on the lease or rent etc. You would think the council would be keeping its bets open by keeping both CCFC and Wasps happy.
If I was the council I would fook the stadium off pretty sharpish if i could and concentrate on the needy parts of the city. I hope CCFC stay away as long as possible for Wasps to either realise they are onto a loser and move away back to London or they fold. By moving back to the Ricoh w are lining their pockets which will keep them here longer. We need a deal but I cant see Wasps doing us any favours.

Well any deal won’t just line their pockets it will line ours too and it would be the politic thing to do for Ccfc to play in coventry. If wasps aren’t willing to give a little then they deserve all that is coming to them

exactly sisu’s stance last time. If the council somehow get it back, it won’t be as simple as them handing us the keys, they have already demonstrated that

Nothing more frustrating than reading a positive post or something you desperately want to happen and then realise it’s been written by someone who constantly talks shite, so you realise it’s more likely to be the opposite

They'll never go 'bust'. The RFU will more than adequately ensure the survival of the 'vital 12'.

They'll still have to have something to show when the shit storm passes. Even before this crisis they'd decided that priorities were A - England national team and B - Rugby Premiership.
If anything I'd imagine their resolve will be even stronger.

What court case? There is no ongoing legal action at the moment

That's not legal action mate, if the EU deem that there is an issue then it's turns into legal action against the council only nothing against wasps which was the agreement that we made with them so there is no "legal action" to drop

We still might have to wait for a decision from the eu though? If the eu kick that out we’re more likely to be back at the ricoh?

No idea with the Brexit farce and then covid, things must be back logged... But it's a mute point as it's not legal action against wasps so as per wasps terms it shouldn't be an issue but as always they changed the goal posts. It's the major ball ache I have with all of this, wasps key people and the local media screaming drop the legals when there aren't any

You should be asking CCC what the agreement is that required any undertaking by WASPS

Why would SISU/CCFC underwrite Wasps losses for an asset that they don’t own? This would make no business sense.

Yep. If Sisu underwrote this, then the council would be financially rewarded by saying they did make an oops. Wasps would end up break even, and Sisu/CCFC would have to foot the bill.

It's just not something that SISU can agree to under any circumstances even if the chances of the above are very remote...

I think we'll return as Wasps really aren't in a position to turn down potentially lucrative deals. Commercially it works for Wasps - especially in the wake of one of the worst economic downturns on record and the added issue of potentially no crowds beyond September.

But as always I'm sure any potential negotiations probably won't be straightforward. Despite the current pandemic and the forthcoming recession the EC Complaint is still looming over Wasps' head and I have no doubt that indemnity still remains a buzzword around the Wasps camp whenever the CCFC topic is raised. This issue wouldn't have disappeared and as such Wasps will probably attempt at playing silly buggers if/when negotiations begin - which is ridiculous as it's now as much out of their hands as it is ours.
