I work with a number of Derby fans and we don't agree on many things but the one point that is never in dispute is that Bryan Richardson is a right c#@t!
If you honestly believe that at some point in these dire economic times a new football stadium will be built in Coventry then you are sadly misguided. The powers to be will sort this shambles out eventually and City will play in the perfectly suitable Ricoh Arena and the area around will be developed and in time it will become home. I have fond memories of HR too but what's done is done and the stadium in CV6 is probably in the top 15 in the country and looked fantastic on February 5th when remarkably with Wembley in sight 31,000 overcome all the trivial excuses usually made to attend to fill the place !
neither just a visionary buffoon who had no idea the sh!t he was getting CCFC in to...also responsible for not sacking GS straight after relegation and so wasting our best chance at getting straight back up....and the man who sold John Hartson to Celtic and then paid over 5 million for Lee Hughes :jerkit:
Look at the state of CCFC when he assumed the chairmanship. Look at the state of CCFC when he was kicked out of the chairmanship. That answers the thread's question unequivocally.
Richardson the 2nd highest paid chairman in the top flight only to Martin Edwards of Man U we were relegated and I beileve they won the league
Maybe Graham Hoover could answer a few questions as well, was he not the finance director at the time of the land deal and slipped away quitley without any explanation when Richardson was removed.
The CONFIDENTIALITY CLAUSE makes it impossible for us to know the exact truth.
Yet I would assume Hoover was complicite with embezzlement from CCFC by Richardson as he would have had to sign off deals as the 2nd signotry in a company behind the back of the other board members.
( which is what the others said that they had voted against his ideas and then were suprised that he had ignored them and continued on doing things his way with the help of another....Hoover.........possibly of course

Depends how you quantify genius and to whose benefit, I'm sure he's still a millionaire living a very comfortable life. I'm sure he made a fortune along with others out of the football club. Not me..... but some would say his business escapades were the work of a financial genius. He was the beneficiary though and the football club was left on its knees !
If the Council are to blame for anything its what happened before the Ricoh project.
CCFC wanted to redevelop HR, mainly by building a new 10k capacity stand on the site of the old Sky Blue Stand, as well as develop the land behind the Sky Blue Tavern into a multi purpose building (probably incorporating much of what eventually would go into the Ricoh).
Dave Nellist then kicked up a fuss saying that residents round there wouldn't get any benefit of this and so the plans never got through the Council.
A redeveloped HR would have been so much better for the Club.

I believe that Hoover was Commercial Manager rather than Finance Director if I remember correctly. However he did come with a glowing reference from his previous club.......Millwall!
As I said previously on this thread, Hoover could answer a lot of the questions that are now being asked. In Mafia terms "he knows where the bodies are buried", but suspect he will keep it to himself.
At last Richardson's role in all this is coming under the spot light!!! If he could ever justify the actions and decisions he took at the time, given the position we are in, it would make good listening!!!
Was he on some league chairmans committee that did the original deal with sky?
