Coventry City's central defender Richard Wood, who appears to be out of favour with manager Aidy Boothroyd, may be in for a return to Sheffield.
Former Sky Blues boss Chris Coleman brought Wood to The Ricoh from Sheffield Wednesday last season and was a regular in the side, but since the arrival of Boothroyd, Wood has been relegated to the bench.
Reports from the Yorkshire Post, suggest that Sheffield United are keen to sign the uncompromising defender.
Last week, Boothroyd said that he hoped to do some more business with new players coming in and a few going the other way. Richard Wood could very well be one of those who will be leaving The Ricoh.
I think we should let him leave. I believe that we have enough center half's at the squad in Turner, McPake, Cameron, Grandison and Wood, so the money could help us strengthen the squad.
I think Wood came through Wednesday's academy system, became club captain, but he fell out with then-Wednesday manager Brian Laws, and the damage was never repaired, esp. as about 4,000 Wednesday fans came to the Ricoh in March with seemingly one object in mind: to boo the living crap out of Richard Wood! It was consequently hilarious when he scored...
Again, I wouldn't sell Richard Wood- a quality centre back who would fit into any Championship team- he'll score against us no doubt if he leaves!
