Football is a team game, and McCallister was a better player for us once we signed Carlton Palmer. The person asked for the best team, so I gave my best team. If they had asked for the best individuals then Palmer may not have been mentioned. Once again, genius lost on the lesser minded.

I don't agree with you on Shaw, but you are bang on right in your analysis of the role Palmer played alongside McAllister. McAllister was about three times the player he'd been for us up to then with Big Carlton doing his dirty work! Every side needs it's Nobby Stiles. But my concern is-who's ours now?

I'm with Real on this one - I recognise every one of his observations about RS. But that has nothing to do with whether he will be a good coach or not. Clearly we won't be increasing the coaching staff so presumably at least one will be going. I imagine the main reason he is here is because he is a friend of Thorny.

Are you sure?

I know someone who works at Millwall and he was very highly thought of by all the staff (playing, coaching and management). They were gutted to see him go. Also from the soundbites from my mate, it sounds as though this deal to bring him in as assistant manager or a coach has been in place/discussion for weeks.

The thing is, I'm not judging his coaching credentials because he may turn out to be a good coach, and I hope he does. I've said all I need to about my opinion of his playing ability.
