Wood would be VERY capable in League One,

If we can keep him he would easily be in the top 5 centre halfs in League One

I can understand what you mean, in terms in physical presence? he would be a big object against quiet a few of them League 1 strikers. IF Craine goes that is.

If we could have a starting defence next seaosn of

Hussey ---Wood ---Cameron ----Clarke

then defence would be the least of our problems !

In fact, if they could all stay fit, in League One, we wouldnt miss Craine or Keogh anywhere near as much as we have missed King this season !

Turner was on a 4 year contract. Westwood would never have signed a new deal here and though I rated gunnarson a lot of people like him more now he is gone. Keogh has been offered a contract as had Cranie.

Westwood wanted to sign a new extention to his contract, and actually told SISU this when they brought in Boothroyd.
When Boothroyd was asked about giving Westwood an Extention, he replied "I haven't bumped into him on the training ground yet"
6 months later Boothroyd still hadn't offered him a new contract. To put it bluntly, Boothroyd and SISU treated Westwood with contempt, and got their "Just desserts".:facepalm::facepalm:

I understand your post, but there is no way all back four players will stay fit. Not only that, there is no cover for any of them.

Westwood indulged in agent speak on this one. He was never going to resign. Everton and spurs were rumoured to be in for him and signing one would take him off the radar. Ranson was trying to offload with a year to go and failed.

Our biggest problem atm, is we have the smallest squad in our modern day history. The minimum requirement imo, is, 25 players(Experienced)...cover for all positions and 3 universal players(Any position)

Well, at the moment, we would have Willis and Christie, assuming McPake goes

When ROD goes Up front we have Cody, and thats it !

Bigi
Keogh
Craine
Wood
McPake

All been linked with moves away as well,

Even if we only lose 3 of them, we really be struggling to get a match day squad together

Wasn't O'Neill set to sign him for Villa when he had a year left-only for O'Neill to quit, scuppering the deal. Now ironically O'Neill has him at Sunderland-and doesn't rate him!

What was the whole "he will never play for this club" thing about at the beginning of the season before last.

Boothroyd dropped him because he wouldn't sign a contract, Westwood accused the club of trying to bully him to sign a new contract or something or other.

Basically Aidy was an arse and none of the players apart from King and Platt liked him.

Bollocks!!!!

The players enjoyed the spell under boothroyd. By December we were in the playoffs!!! Suspensions, injuries and a transfer embargo messed that up!!!

Since boothroyd left this club has gone downhill!!!!!

18 months ago the Playoffs were a massive possibility. Now relegation to league 2 is a massive possibility!

You got that spot on CCFC, Boothroyd and SISU totally disrespected Westwood, when he WANTED to sign a contract extention. They ignored him until it suited them.

This Club started going downhill from the day SISU took charge, and when they appointed Coleman.

Because of injuries, suspensions and transfer embargo. We played Norwich mid December and before the game we were above them!!! We had a player sent off and Holt scored a late winner. That was the moment when our momentum stopped. If we won that day things could have been alot different

The club was going downhill before Boothroyd left, it is no surprise he is next job was a league 2 club.

When Boothroyd left didn't Ranson say the players were no longer responding to his style of play, wasn't it rumoured some of the senior players at the time had gone to the board and expressed there concerns over the manager?

So yea basically the majority of the players didn't liked him and didn't want to play for him like I said.

How would it have been different though? We would still have injuries and transfer embargo and suspensions throughout the season which you have said is the reason we tailed off, unless of course you are just using that as an excuse for Boothroyds terrible run that followed.

If the players hated his style so much then why did style get us top 4 place mid season???

You seem to forget that before Xmas and before the politics of Thomas going Liverpool we were looking steady. Alot of off the field troubles did contribute. I don't see how you can say the players didn't like playing under AB? For 20 games we were playoff contenders.

People also reckon King coming into the team didn't help and caused too much unrest amongst the changing rooms.

Has it really got better under thorn?

Sorry mate, but you're wrong on this one.
I'm talking about wayyyy before Everton and Spurs "Came sniffing"......Westwood was s**t on, from a great height.
Westwood was interviewed, and said....."I've asked "The Gaffer" (Coleman) to approach the board about a contract extention, because I want to stay.
Coleman said he would, but was "Sacked" meantime.
Westwood was so peed off about being kept waiting for an answer (6 months) that he made the stance of "He will not re-sign."
The rest is history.

and where did that style leave us when he eventually got sacked?

Are you in fact Mr Boothroyd himself?

Keogh! Keogh! Keogh!

Keogh was Player of the season for a reason(ooh that rhymes) I love his mad runs forward and his never say die attitude. He is the last player to give up and whoever gets him, you've got a diamond on your hands. If he does go to Cardiff then it will be a big boost to the squad and a big loss for ours. So if he does leave, whoever gets him, does us a favour? Look after our Keogh? One Keogh! Theres only one Keogh! Theres only one Keogh! Theres only one Keogh!

The same style that took us sliding down the table once our opponents worked out how to stop us. AB never had a plan B. That is why he got the sack. The same style of play that gave us stiff necks if we tried to watch the ball. The same style of play that had most fans complaining.

Whereas now were playing league 1 football.

Remind me who was in charge ALL of last season?

Who knows what would have happened under AB but all I know is that the highest position under AB was 4th after 20 games. Thorn with a whole season never managed higher then 18th

He would have done the way we were going. Remember AT took over the squad AB had. We only lost 2 out of the last 10 games. This saved us from relegation. We had gone from 4th to nearly 4th bottom. Selective memory again?

Yes AB is so good he has ended up at Northampton, who finished near the bottom of Div4 last season with AB in charge. Yes you are right as usual

He may not have took us down....But he did nothing about keeping us up!
May I add I'm by no means a Thorn lover either. It was stated(Correctly) by yourself, that he took us to, I think, for one week only, 6th position. Also stated correctly(Astute), we came sliding down the league when other teams worked out the "Hoofroyd syndrome" Meantime Thorn tried to play "Football" which baffled the other teams, and got us the desired points to stay up.
He's done nothing since, and holds the unenviable title of "Worst Coventry City Manager..EVER"
