This somehow feels inevitable and out-of-nowhere at the same time. It always seemed to me like he's a good man who found himself out of his depth, he did very well in extremely trying circumstances as interim and on a personal level it must have been tough to go to a new organisation only to find the person who hired you out on their arse. Hopefully he lands on his feet.

He ended up holding the poisoned chalice. The Peter principle in practice.

Well people have said we have too many Coaches.

His wages will go towards Matty Grime's wages.

There’s levels to this. Boateng and Carr’s resume compared to someone like Ado Viveash is chalk and cheese.

King’s whole point was that he was worried that without an elite coach beside him, MR could get exposed. The subtext of what he said was that MR was ‘threatened’ by higher calibre options.

That’s taking his word at face value and perhaps there’s a bit of embellishment but the core of the message is plausible.

I’m sure King said that the model had changed so when the Manager/ Head Coach leaves the rest of the set up stays the same so it doesn’t unsettle the club, and that they had an excellent coaching set up….

For continuation, you could be right, that would have been while he was supporting MR Though I think, so just blurb?

I’m sure somebody on here said he looked like a spare part at one of the early games of Lampard reign and was ridiculed.

I have a feeling maybe it was a decision that was taken when Lampard came in. He was supporting the transition and he was always leaving at the end of Jan.

I don't think they were really so different. Viveash's resume consisted of various Chelsea youth teams and Cirencester Town.

Watched the last 3 warm ups and he has looked to be a bit of a spare part to be honest.
Jones seems to be the main man, but as I say, only watched 3.

Chelsea youth team versus Wolves and Ghana. Viveash’s background was elite and considered one of the best coaches in his field.

He would’ve worked alongside world class managers too in his time at Chelsea.

Robins himself admitted Care and Boateng needed to ‘develop into their roles’ which means they weren’t up to the standard required from the get-go.

Can’t see there being any replacements. Lampard bought his own team. This is just getting rid of the duplication

Was it? He spent most of his career at Walsall. I doubt he had much to do with the first team managers at Chelsea either.

Don't get me wrong, he was a great coach, but there aren't many true elite coaches taking assistant jobs at near-bankrupt L2 teams.

Williams has been taken off the defensive coaching after the Pompey game

Not sure King's relatively meagre experience of football qualifies him to make those judgements , I only hope that he has someone advising him that does know about football.

In his defence he should never have been looking after the defence and whoever had that idea got it wrong, he will have had enough to do coaching all those keepers.

The idea that our GK coach was tasked with looking after our entire defensive strategy, and that changing things after a bad defeat has turned everything round just doesn't hold water

Yeah it's not the grand statement Saddle wanted really. Shock horror, a coach who specifies in goalkeeper is put in charge of a department he can't run and said department fails. Not exactly a shock is it.

There's no evidence that Williams was ever in charge of 'defensive coaching' (whatever that means)

In any case, the responsibility for the way the team defends in any particular game lies with the manager/head coach.

It took Lampard 3 or 4 weeks to see Collins wasnt up to it

The same amount of time for him to see Williams isn't up to scratch either

He will be the next out. Bookmark this if you like

The results spoke for themselves, unfortunately and had it been any other manager, we’d have been demanding the managers be sacked.

Us fans definitely weren’t the most qualified to make that judgement, sentiment blinded us when our results were bad over 30-odd games.

The scary thing is that neither Carr nor Austin thought Collins was the wrong choice enough to persuade Frank not to risk Collins and he had to find it out by losing matches.

Which all may well be true - it's hardly a surprise for a new manager to gradually replace the old coaching staff with their own trusted coaches.

I just don't understand this theory that Aled Williams was the evil Svengali ruining everything all along behind the scenes. Even if you believe a GK coach would be given such sweeping responsibility (it sounds ridiculous to me), he seems like quite a convenient scapegoat.

Should Lampard have the Manager title now? We clearly aren’t using a Head Coach system (good IMO).
