I do find it confusing when one group says one thing, and another group says something else. They really all ought to get together and draw up some kind of mutual agreement.

Case in point the initial link that NW put up... https://www.facebook.com/KeepCovInCovCampaign ... you would think that would have KCIK splattered everywhere. But it comes up as NOPM??

KCIC used to be NOPM, but went more inclusive.

The Trust refuse to protest so KCIC/NOPM was spun out as an independent protest group.

The Trust have now, it seems, rolled KCIC back into the Trust, but still refuse to protest in case they upset anyone.

Clear?

You say that like you are Columbo cracking a big case. It's no secret some people think KCIC is a load of old shite.

Never thought much of Columbo as there wasn't any mystery as a viewer, cos you knew whodunit cos you watched them do it. Murder She Wrote was better but if you watched any scenes at Cabot Cove dock/marina they're using the same set as Jaws! http://universal.filmmakersdestination.com/backlot/jaws-lakecabot-cove/

If people want to change Trust policies surely you just vote for them, as the Trust is a democratic body?

The danger is...

Suppose I get a few of my friends to join the Trust, let's call them the families Fisher, Seppala, and Labovitch.

I then propose a motion demanding everybody stops paying their council tax to force the council to hand over the Ricoh to SISU.

The families pop along to the AGM where that's discussed. There are so many of them in the room proportionate to other views, that the motion is carried on the vote.

Trust policy is thus NOPM for council tax and a tagline of GIVE THE RICOH TO SISU FOR FREE.

Democratic? Or just who's most organised.

Now I'm not saying I have the answers, beyond repeating what (Michael?) says on the NOPM facebook page, that if you want to complain you have to at least be prepared to vote first... but there's a very real danger that Trust policy can be guided not for what's appreciated and needed for the apathetic majority but, rather, the committed fundamentalist minority... of whatever persuasion.

PS, love Columbo! They missed a trick not sending him on location to Colombo though.

One of the problems with the vote was that if you weren't attending you had to nominate a proxy, so if, like me, you didn't know anyone attending you couldn't vote. What's needed is a system that allows all members to vote when required as you're never going to get thousands to turn up to these meetings.

You could nominate the chair.

Don't worry confusion, it is a permanent affliction round here.

I'd never seen the one you posted at the top of the thread before you pointed it out.

I had found this other one before though https://www.facebook.com/OITLIP?ref=hl and Rob Stevens has his page https://www.facebook.com/getcovbacktoricoh, which has had no update since their election fiasco.

Yes that could happen but as my Religious Education teacher once said "That's democracy and that's why it's important to vote" . It was actually a reference to Thatcher and Major more than anything else but it stuck with me.

Yeah me too. Apparently I'm wrong about KCIC coming into the Trust as well.

I give up.

Don't worry - when Michael returns from his hiatus he will be able to answer absolutely any questions you may have and clarify everything so it is crystal clear...
