I noticed that telegraph stand is now the North stand.

Now instead of naming it something like The Asda stand, why we don't name it after something actually to do with the Club.

Now I know it may be difficult with the ownership etc, but surely for football purposes alone they'd let it be renamed.

Thoughts and ideas?

As bad as this sounds, I think once either Jimmy Hill or John Sillett fall off their perch, a stand will be named after one of them.

Agreed! Never liked the ground/stands names being sold. It sounds shite & is embarrassing! Always preferred "Phoenix Way" to "The Ricoh" but that's never gonna happen!

'The ACL Stand' sounds good to me.

Seconded. The introducing crap they used to do was horrific. If the fans were to name it, there'd be nothing they could do. The only players worthy from my era of watching CCFC (Since 97) are McAllister or Keane. Pretty sad how there's been no one since then

From my era.... All the 87 team then...

Speedie
Gallagher
Macallister
Keane
Hadji ( possibly)
Dublin
Huckerby

Not forgetting Stuart Robson who in my opinion was one of the best midfield players to wear sky blue.

It's all about money. Naming a stand after an ex player - £0. Naming a stand after a business - few hundred grand...

I'd rather SISU sold the naming rights to stands than sold key players - unfortunately they do both. If it was a straight choice the stand could be called the Platinum Lace Stand for all I'd care.

Not "The Jimmy Hill" stand, simply "Jimmy's Hill".

Why is it called a stand when everyone sits down ?

I'm pretty sure Sisu and CCFC get nil income from naming rights at the moment.

I hadn't thought of that but guess it makes total sense - well in that case it's even less surprising it will get sold for naming rights given that ACL will be getting the money in. There's no benefit to them of calling it the Jimmy Hill stand or whatever.

Im pretty sure they could do something like "The Jimmy Hill Stand sponsored by Decathlon" or something of the sort. Best of both worlds that way.

as far as i am aware the sponsorship of a stand is nothing to do with the club. All of the sponsorship money goes to acl. I am pretty sure this whole thing has come up before and the club come out and said that it was nothing to do with them

Yep - we've asked at the SCG meetings but as it stands its not in the clubs authority so they can't do anything about it. Interesting though that all stands have now lost their sponsors (I think, might be one left). So ACL struggle to get sponsors while were here, they'd have no chance without us...

the main stand should be the JS stand, joy would be lulled into a false sense of security & female delusion, (not being sexist though),
but we would acknowledge that it means the John Sillett stand,
as for the others,
the KD stand, ? Kevin Drinkell,
the OI stand (suggestions welcomed) ? obdurate idiots,
the LB stand (legion boys - inc. singers corner)
