As we are in league 1 now and a percentage of our stadium is allowed to be standing, do u think removing and area of seating maybe behind one of the goals and make it standing for home supporters at a cheaper rate would increase attendance and atmosphere? Just a thought!

Wouldn't mind standing behind the goal where the away end is.

How much would it cost to do and is it allowed?

It is allowed, It would be very expensive to do, terraces are usually very shallow, and the Ricoh is fairly steep so to pass H+S it would probably need a guard rail on every line.

We don't fill it as it is without creating more room.

They should cover the last few rows rather than corners so it brings everybody towards the pitch but closer rather than big gaps.

never gonna happen anyway...can you imagine the Olympics or the Rugby world cup coming here if there was terracing?

It would be pointless!

I stand anyway. I'd love terracing but it's never going to happen. And like above, more people in less space equals a emptier looking ground.

Maybe the answer is selling more tickets. Winning games would help with this.

It's looking more and more likely that safe standing is going to be introduced in this country anyway. People are looking at Germany, who never got rid of terracing and never hiked ticket prices up buy 200% and saying why can't we have it over here. Quite a few SPL teams are going to introduce it, they've also been backed by the SFA. And Peterborough and Aston Villa (*spits*) have declared interest.

The stadium isn't ours, don't forget. I can't imagine that ACL would agree to this suggestion from Sisu; they would like the rent paid first!

erm we dont actually own the stadium, so it isnt the clubs decision .......... also as the stadium is multipurpose then it is unlikely to happen .......... but i like the idea but not unless we have bigger crowds, otherwise we would just create more spaces around a 2/3rds empty stadium .

Not mention the cost of putting back the seats if promoted to meet chanpionship standards.

Plus......we don't own the stadium so have abslutely not say on this.

Wouldn't have to put them back straight away, the rules say that terracing is safe for the first three years, it's only in the fourh year in the top two tiers that it becomes dangerous and has to be replaced with seats.

Not owning the stadium is definitely the crux of the problem. Having an area behind a goal where seating could be removed during the season and replaced for concerts in the off period wouldn't be to much of a problem. As for the crowds I believe a standing area would lure back some of the stay away fans, therefore would increase attendance.

Said this for a long time, bunch the fans up for a better atmosphere. No sense to have the whole ground open for each and every game.

Its still unnecessary expenditure, if we are only going to be down here a season or 2.

Yep, not saying we will go back up, but changing to terracing is almost excepting we will stay in league one indefinitely.

In Switzerland they have safe standing. Each row has a seat but it folds away. So basically if you want to stand you just have to close your seat up which is no harder than what's done now. Plus each person has their own space (seat number) meaning over crowding won't happen. Each row has railings in front which is where the seats fold under.

Its very impressive and is allowed in the champions league where standing isn't allowed.

This would be great at the Ricoh for concerts also. Plus the large sporting events would still use the Ricoh as they can be used as seats.

The most moving atmosphere I've experienced on a long time is at Stoke. An all-seater. They've created an atmosphere there we can only dream of. Seats or no seats, the apathy of the average City fan is the biggest hurdle to overcome

True. Very true. Point being, I guess, standing or sitting is almost secondary. A crowd's propensity to be vocal either there or not, to an extent irrespective of seating arrangements. For us, unfortunately, it tends not to be there
