Just a gentle reminder, could you think before you post personal insults, accusations and everything else against other members, organisations and individuals.

People DO read these forums so can see what you put and it possibly could come back to haunt you with legal action so just to save any hassle could you think before you post or if you see something a bit borderline could you report it so we can deal with it?

Thanks

If you did name them publicly are you at risk of Libel retribution?

if somebody has said something that is proved to be untrue - you are ok however

so for example - if an executive said we are debt free as all debt had been converted to equity - and that is proved to be untrue, as the debt still exists . Then saying that person has been dishonest, and has abused his position of trust and responsibility is fine

If that same person says that the owner has committed funding for 3 more years - and that proves to actually be for 6 months, then the same applies

so we can attack these people enough just by sticking to actual fact

Got to be honest, some of the responses to the thread about is this Joy were pretty vile. If I was TF or his Mrs I would be extremely upset and I would definitely be threatening legal action.

If someone mismanages the club then fine you don't have to like them, if someone is the wife of someone that mismanges the club then it's a bit harsh to abuse that person.

Exactly my point. There is disagreeing with people and there is being personal. I don't agree with donzo about Thorn but it doesn't mean I would want to shout abuse at him.

I think you may take the view that this is not offensive, so you should be ok. Not sure why you would call him a flaming Croat

The forum, and therefore Nick, could get in legal trouble if things posted on here got out of hand and were seen by the people they're aimed at-which isn't really what we need at the moment.

One of the defences to a libel action is to prove your words are substantially true, but the court would look to you to prove it. You might need deep pockets to do that.

Exactly. Yes you probably could fight it if you wanted to and go to court etc but can anybody seriously be arsed to try and challenge a group of millionaires and lawyers in court?

You been given a prod, Nick? I hate gagging orders. They make me act incredibly immaturely. It's like those "wet paint-do not touch" signs. I just have to!

I trust I'm OK to still call Gruffy whatever I want still? You know I'd win the court case

And seriously-has anyone aver been successfully sued for libel based on what they've said on an internet forum? Really?

And if Joy came out of hiding and addressed the fans, it wouldn't have happened, would it?

Does that mean I can't "shout down" anyone who disagrees with me?

You can, as long as you don't make accusations you can't prove

To be honest, it's been out of hand for quite some time, so all it's going to take is a few zealous investigators to trawl back over the threads for the past month and they'd have a field day with some posters. Just remember what Lord MacAlpine did with all of those Twitter warriors in court.

You privately send me loads of threatening abuse over the Thorn matter and pretend to everyone else that you are a mellow fellow

They can say their opinion, not accusations and personal remarks without being able to prove them
