Can any of you remember a cracking game at HR when Chelsea came to town without a away kit? As a result of this they had to wear our away kit. I remember Frank Leboeuf taking it off after the game, throwing it to the floor and spitting on it. Still he was gutted cos we beat em and Dublin destroyed him for the full 90!

I was their was an amazing match but very strange to watch all those stars in our away kit, it felt like watching a training session yet with a full crowd! Fantastic memories of highfield road

Yes, I remember Strachan played a blinder that night and Frank Leboeuf throwing his shirt off at the end and spitting on it. Very Gaelic.

I was there as a kid, i remember just getting back from the kiosk with my pie as we scored and i threw my pie in the air! haha

And yeah i remember them taping up the badge. Was this the game where Paul Williams scored a screamer? Im sure that was against Chelsea

I wasn't around then, but my old boss is a Chelsea fan and he used to collect their away kits (for some reason) and bought that Coventry away kit- found it quite funny.

The volley from outside the box? That was Newcastle a few years later!

I remember this night, great game. I put this alongside some of my favorite quirky HR memories.

Dion Dublin scoring that cheeky goal by sneaking up on Shay Given vs Newcastle.

The referee (Lodge?) attempting a back heel vs Leicester in order to place the ball in the correct position for a free kick, only to fall flat on his face.

Bradford City fireworks night.

If I remember correctly, didn't Chelsea originally want us to play in the away kit and them in our home "because it was blue"?

'Your Sh%t - and you've got no kit
Your Sh*t - and you've got no kit' etc etc.

Great night. Brilliant performance for City. Their goalie (?Dimitri Kharine) got decked after our 2 or 3rd goal and we have nearly ten minutes of celebratory singing.

I thought Williams did actually score a screamer in this match though? From about 30 yards?

and wasn't it the purple and yellow "clown kit" that Richardson chose and the players hated?

It was the red and black chequer board one Chelsea wore. I hated the two shades of purple with yellow trim shirt that we had the season before that game, but I guess you're thinking about the not much better 1998-99 away kit, which had more yellow in it.
