Since lampard arrived it's arguable only rudoni has out performed him.If we identify someone better that we think will be more consistent across a 46 games season, and we need to raise funds to do it.
Disagree.Allen to Charlton would make sense for me

Not more but mve and grimes were very good consistentlyMVE, Grimes, Sakamoto, Dovin all did more, no?
Grimes possibly the rest noMVE, Grimes, Sakamoto, Dovin all did more, no?
No he's a high energy ball winning defensive midfielder. Is Kante not the ultimate box-to-box midfielder?
Goal contributions - fine. You’ll never see him “in” games as much as the other three. He’s not mobile enough to cover Rudoni. So he falls between stools for me. Nice player who has ability but not quite what you want in the engine room of the team. He’s played more than Sheaf, Eccles, Allen and has much better goal contributions than all 3. Considering we would get more money for Sheaf and Eccles all 3 of those I’d earmark to leave before Torp
Retained list is usually 7 days after the season finishes so imagine next week. Will only be out of contract players named anywayWhen do we reckon this will be revealed? Some time today?

For me a box to box midfielder is some one who also well as being defensive minded, also gets themselves into the goalscoring positions in the opposition box, like a Bryan Robson, Gerrard, Platt, Ballack, etc.Splitting hairs here. How does that differ from a box-to-box midfielder?
It arguably downplays just how effective Kante was in attacking transitions too.

Deadline from who out of interest?Deadline is 3rd Saturday in May, i.e. tomorrow
EFL deadline apparently.Deadline from who out of interest?
I didnt expect it to be a rule anywhere, just a courtesy by the clubs announcing who their out of contract players are!
you are not wrong - play off clubs get an extension to "4 days after their final play off game" - so that still makes it today!EFL deadline apparently.
Was news to me too
Retained list latest as Birmingham City approach EFL deadline
Grant Hanley and Lee Myung-jae are the only two senior Birmingham City players out of contract this summerwww.birminghammail.co.uk

Yeah, doesn't have to be made public by that date necessarily, but the players have to be informed by the deadline.EFL deadline apparently.

At his best, Kante was getting decent amount of assists and given the systems he played in (4-4-2 and 3-4-3 in the Prem) frankly needed to have a presence in going forward.
‘Box to box’ is such a broad term, you could apply the term to Bellingham and Rice equally. Yet the two players play v differently.
Anyway, to move on from getting bogged down on this any further… what did you have in mind when you said we needed a BBM?
Against Boro he played as a 1 against 1 striker which is BTA's strong asset.Well, as others have alluded, I think that was based on his performance against Middlesbrough, when he suddenly seemed to look a very decent player.
But he then returned to his old self in that Sunderland first leg.
I really want to like BTA, but it seems to me that his approach to getting past an opponent is to either beat them for pace. Or to just try and batter his way through them.
Don't think Sheaf has been 100% due to injuries.my opinion of sheaf has changed massively in the last few weeks. i think he showed real heart, maybe having quality alongside him in the shape of grimes has reset his thoughts about his chances of making a difference in the side.
if he can stay injury free him and grimes is a great looking midfield base.
I'm going to say it and have already prepared myself for the flak that I'm bound to receive but a one year contract for Liam Walsh wouldn't be the worst idea ever in the history of bad ideas. He orchestrated everything when we played Luton recently.
Apparently he had a really positive influence in the dressing room as well during his loan spell with us.
It's only my opinion but I really think that he could do a job for us, and no, I'm not his brother, wife or mother.
He's a decent player at this level, but he was outstanding when we went down to 10 men, I doubt he'd of Been so influential if we'd of kept 11 players on the pitch.I'm going to say it and have already prepared myself for the flak that I'm bound to receive but a one year contract for Liam Walsh wouldn't be the worst idea ever in the history of bad ideas. I remember him being massively influential during his time with us despite a few injuries, but he seems to have proved over the last season that his hitherto injury record has been laid to rest but maybe not so much his disciplinary record.Didn’t he spend most of his time banned or injured?
If he’s like he was he’s the right profile but the wrong person for me. Never go back. Unless it’s Vik or Hamer.
I don't think that he was entirely culpable for their relegation fatso but I get what you're saying. He's a decent player at this level, but he was outstanding when we went down to 10 men, I doubt he'd of Been so influential if we'd of kept 11 players on the pitch.
Let's not forget he's now been relegated, so clearly he wasn't that good.
As I said he's not a bad player, but who would he replace? He's no Rudoni or Grimes, so that leaves Sheaf and he's no defensive midfielder.I don't think that he was entirely culpable for their relegation fatso but I get what you're saying.
I just think that with Lampard at the helm and how much he's progressed our midfielders, Liam Walsh could do a job for us next year.
He’d be amazing in any system in this league. Cheat code.A version of Hamer 2022/23 would be amazing in our system.

TBF he could add to our squad if we offload Allen or Eccles, but would we pay good money for a player who's no better than Torp?
