I thought they were going for the penalty taker

I didn't think he was too bad tbh. A few questionable decisions yes but got all the big decisions spot on.

Preston fans think they were hard done by with the ref.

Speechless.

He was terrible and missed loads of fouls especially on Gyokeres. Also wasn't that a penalty for Preston in the first half from the Hyam challenge?

No the player dived but hyam did have his leg outstretched so could have given one away

They should have gone to the penalty spot and kicked the ball off it and then tried to damage the spot, they are getting a ban so may as well have done something useful

Worst decision of the day was the foul on O'Hare outside the box. Just seen it back on ifollow, appalling refereeing.

What was also baffling was the foul on Hyam/Rose? Ok the half way like from behind that wasn't given a yellow. 4 minutes later he booked Hamer for a near identical tackle.

Unfortunately we have the Godden/Hamer/O'Hare tax playing against us. Referees will book Hamer for anything because they know his reputation, they won't give us fouls on O'Hare because they think he goes down easily and they don't give us penalties because of the Godden ban.

You can't honestly question the Hamer booking today?

Which if he hadn’t got he could have stopped their attack for the penalty with a foul on the half way line.

I can when an identical tackle 4 minutes earlier on Rose was just a free kick. Lack of consistency is the issue.

O'Hare had 2/3 worse fouls on him than that Hamer one and the PNE players did not get booked.

The referee was the worst this season. He was weak and allowed Preston to assault O’Hare all match.

Did anyone notice the number 11s job immediately there was any foul by a Preston player was to get in the referees face so the perpetrator could fade back into the other players - happened 3 or 4 times - dirty bastards

Anyone see the yellow card incident in the Wimbledon v Doncaster game.

How on earth is that not a red card? That was worth at least two red cards that challenge.

I think O’Hare needs to start wearing steel shin pads, metal studs on his boots, brass knuckles and even armour at every match the way he’s being assaulted every match. A true warrior

I wonder what the reaction of Michael Doyle would have been in games like yesterday where O'Hare was being kicked to pieces? He'd have sure let the referee know.

So you thought it would be a good idea for one of them to hit the ref?
A bloke who is trying to do his extremely difficult job (I can’t think of another where every decision that you make is so public and where you are sure to alienate a sizeable chunk of those watching, even though most decisions are correct) you think is a useless piece of shit?
It is obvious why, with people having attitudes like yours, there is a huge shortage of referees.

you're obviously a part time ref then. I have my opinion of Keith Stroud going back over the last decade, if you don't like it, I don't care. it's my opinion I have every right to voice it on a football forum, why not complain to Nick and get me banned?

Not at the time but having watched the replay he'd failed to control the ball before the foul (which was outside the box anyway) so not sure on the ruling of that though as goalscoring opportunity had probably gone. Ref didn't have benefit of watching the replay though and certainly thought he was right with both pen and red at the time.

I was fully expecting red card and penalty when it happened and I had a pretty good view. Was much more annoyed at Dabo than the ref

No, not a part time ref. At games I get frustrated by decisions the same as everyone, I’m as biased as the next person. I can see though that It wasn’t Keith Stroud who was constantly clattering O’Hare. The cynical approach that teams like Preston adopt is what causes this to happen along with all of the timewasting and ‘game management’ that goes on. You could say that Stroud missed some fouls on O’Hare and on others, but he generally did as much as he could within the powers that he had. If teams rotate the fouls that they do, he can only book each individual player. It’s up to the football authorities to bring in laws that stop the systematic cheating that goes on.
Even if Stroud had been totally inept, which I don’t think he was, to say it’s a shame that one of the morons who ran on the pitch didn’t thump him I think is really poor. You would have liked to see a middle aged bloke just trying to do his job attacked by a young yobbo? Even ignoring what would have been criminal act, you think it would have been okay for all of the fallout and fines on the club if such a thing had happened?
I‘m not asking for anyone to be banned and you have the right to voice your opinion on here just as you say, but I also have the right to comment on what you write. I think advocating violence against referees or anyone else participating or watching a game is wrong. You seem to think it’s the way forward?

Same here, I was pretty much in line with it and thought it was a pen and a red. Shows how difficult it is sometimes.

Players are often fouled outside the box and fall inside making a difficult decision for the ref but he landed close to the 6 yard box. I was surprised when some claimed it was outside but watching the replay I can understand how hard the decision was for the ref. I think he got it right.

You have every right to voice your opinion on the refs performance yes but saying the idiots running on the pitch should have punched him thats just outright inciting violence and being an idiot. The club have enough idiots as can be seen from Saturday without giving some twat ideas about assaulting a bloke doing his job. Would you say the same about an NHS worker or other emergency worker who you didnt like because of the job they do ?

One of those where you probably just need to hold your hands up and say, 'Probably used the wrong words but was frustrated'. Don't think anyone is gonna hold it against you mate.
