My brother and I said the same, he was giving very few, if any, "soft" fouls but was consistent with it - no issues with the ref today.

In this case, it looked to me like their shot might have been on target if it hadn't been deflected by Lati's hand / arm, which might have provided a reason to give a pen. He'll get rapped over the knuckles for failing to enforce the FA's anti-Cov bias that we keep hearing about on here.

Missed two pens, then sent Thomas off. Yes he shouldn’t have raised his hand but he was pushed as well.

2 pens in the end.

The lino gave the sending off. Will need to see it back but I don't think he touched him.

I saw the replay, if he did it was nothing, but looked like it could’ve been above his head. Commentators didn’t think it was. The wrestle of EMC to the ground was a stonewall pen and a red. Couldn’t give that could they!

For a team with so many goals and so many touches in the box to only have one penalty all season says alot. It’s more than just shit refs

Lets not forget the ref disallowed a goal for us due to a foul on their defender that was 10x softer than the pen he ignored.

Completely agree.

3 pens if you count two wrestling moves on EMC and the same against Bobby when ref had a clear view and defender more interested in swapping shirts than the ball.

If I was Lampard I’d be talking to refs association-happening every week and more teams get away with it-the more they do it and get away with it.

Like I said in an earlier thread-not just happening to us though-but it is becoming a running theme.

Bobby shouldn’t have raised his hand-fucking idiot.

Sky Sports didn't include either the EMC shout or the disallowed goal on their highlights so I haven't seen either back since seeing them live, but the former may well be the worst refereeing decision I've seen in years. It very much looked to me like EMC beat the defender and was advancing on the ball, only to be wrestled to a ground by the defender who wasn't even looking at the ball, let alone trying to win the ball.

I don't know what happened but it very much appears to me like referees aren't willing to give fouls for anything in the box short of a player with the ball at their feet being taken out, and defenders are rightfully taking advantage of that.

This is definitely the case, although they don't apply the same criteria for fouls against defenders in the box. In fact the opposite almost applies whereby defenders know that if they simply fall to ground the ref is likely to give them a foul, which is something Birmingham players made the most of today.

Yep.

Look at the foul given against EMC on their defender in the box first half. Barely anything but defensive free kick. Second half defender hauls EMC to the floor - nothing.

Thing is he keeps alluding to the fact that they get apologies every week as well, which must be letters to the club from the EFL - they don’t do it openly after to media. So it’s not even that it’s him being sore, the refs/league are admitting it all the time.

feels to me at the moment that teams can be overly physical against us and they get away with it, but the second we try/do the same it’s penalised. Maybe that’s me wearing sky blue glasses but certainly felt it today from the decisions that were given.

No complaint about Dasilva or Thomas being sent off, but then we don’t get blatant decisions in our favour. It’s difficult not to feel a bit aggrieved by that.

If we do have a load of EFL letters we should publish them and show them up publicly.

We need to make a huge point of this because penalties could be key for the remainder of the season and we need to influence wherever we can.

Exactly.
As pissed off as I was by Neumann’s reaction to it Thomas took the bait and the second he raises his arm he’s off, whether he missed or not. Dasilva likewise - no “intent” but it’s a bad challenge.
but the ref today had a clear view of the EMC one so his only explanation must be that rugby tackling in the box is ok?

Can’t remember his initial yellow, the second foul was a very yellow yellow though; maybe the ref gave the benefit of the doubt because of the first one?

Wright gets brought down against Ipswich in clear view of the referee…nothing given. Hirst kicks the ball away…nothing given.

Fair has to be fair.

That’s how I saw it, the first was a fair challenge where he’s entitled to go for it. Second one was a booking, so it evened out overall.

Yeah. It’s the lack of consistency even in the same game, and the ones that they clearly should not be getting wrong that gets my goat.
I think everyone can accept that refs will either make mistakes or give decisions we don’t agree with now and again, but when it’s big clear and obvious ones every week…..

If I had a stack of apology letters I'd be saying there's the proof, surely you can't fine someone for telling the truth that's been backed up by the refs themselves?

It’s why he’s avoided punishment for his remarks and behaviour this season I think. They know we’re getting the shit end of these decisions nearly every game at this point.

Won't get a fine if he's stating a fact.
Saying they're shit is fine worthy...
Stating they have been apologising for being shit is not.

I've now seen the EMC' s pen.shout 6 times now twice in the last few minutes each time cannot see any reason not to give it.The ref. had a clear view wonder what has to happen for us to get our next one.

I know people will say these things work them selfs out over the season. But at this rate we need a pen every game remaining.

Its getting beyond a joke.
