Pretty sure it’s the same ref that thought it wasn’t a pen when Stokes keeper took Mason Clark out last season at home. That was an equally atrocious decision, so has form!

Watching the reply from X can’t even see the ref, where the actual fuck was he?

I like many in the ground was going batshit crazy!

Danny Fox had a few words about him on the radio too. Had apparently reffed a game he was in

Would love to know what he said to our players when they swarmed him to ask. It’s one of the most honking decisions I’ve seen in a long time, as clear a penalty as you’ll see.

Anyone got a replay of the pen?

I thought it was a foul but Milan seemed to want to get a pen rather than take the shot.

Nah that’s bollocks you can see he’s trying to get around the ball and is pulled over. Lorna whatsit tried to claim that as well which should tell you how good an opinion it is

Why is he trying to get around the ball when he needs to just take a shot? That’s my point.

Yeah it is a pen but I think that’s why the ref didn’t give it.

He ended up behind it from the bounce he’s shielding it.

Was it really?!
Ffs…two absolutely shit decisions.
As has been said already it wasn’t just decisions against us…he was bad across the board. As was the assistant. I’m sure the Lino flagged for a foul later on too.
Danny Fox highlighted that he was giving fouls for far less contact than the foul on MVE.
Really fucking rubbish.

On the other hand I’m very much liking Danny Fox on commentary. I reckon him and Oggy would be good!

Why did he run past the ball then lol

Like I said, still a pen, but Milan didn’t help himself.

It was so blatant I thought I must have missed something. One of those that you get home and watch the replay and it looks totally different to what you saw live.

However having got home and watched the replay it looks even worse. I can't see any way anyone can justify that as the correct decision.

The ball was bouncing and he was putting himself between it and the ma challenging for it. Ludicrous opinion to claim he was playing for it.

He was through on goal and then turns to try and shield the ball away from goal?

Milan never looks comfortable in the few 1v1s he’s had with us, it’s a consistent thing.

It looked to me he was trying to shoot with his right foot. He had 2 defenders hacking him down and it’s a clear penalty.

There’s a reason our whole bench jumped up as soon as the ref waved off the penalty appeal.

They all have iPads watching from this type of angle. It’s a penalty and red card and the referee did try to even things up for a little bit. One instance being where a corner was called in the first half when it was obvious that the ball deflected on Simms and the whole crowd groaned.

There were a couple of hand balls as well

One was right in front of the ref

If a pen was given the defender would only receive a yellow. Still can't understand why the lino didn't flag as the ref was way behind and could of even had a restricted view. Penalty all day long though

This is wrong, it would only be a yellow if the defender had made a genuine effort to win the ball. He made no such effort so it would have been a straight red and I suspect that was one of the factors going through the refs mind when he decided not to give a penalty.

nope, as said it has to be a genuine attempt to win the ball, that yesterday should still be according to the laws a red

They nearly ran up the other end and scored. He would have been torn limb from limb had that happened.

He didn't feel the need to book anyone, so that's a plus from me.

To be fair it was pretty much a route one clearance from Rushworth that put MvE through.

It would either/or of Danny or Oggy. And in that choice I'm going Oggy by a mile.

They are analysts, there to try and put some sort of expert take on what is happening. A commentator is there to describe the action on the pitch. Totally different roles.

An absolute stonewall penalty don’t think I’ve very seen a more blatant one and as someone else has said probably a red as well. In the end it didn’t matter but that’s not the point . Serious questions must be asked about the quality of refereeing in the Championship .
I’d show a video of the incident on live tv and ask the ref to comment live .
It’s hardly that they get paid peanuts
If he doesn’t like the pressure he could always be a traffic warden

They're obsessed with playing on and the linesman took the var route which doesn't exist yet and hopefully not in the future either.

Very decent punt out by Rushworth to MvE, still pisses me off that ref made that decisions despite probably being around the half way line. Lino should have been in line & called it, but bottled it.

Second point on this, if we don’t learn to keep MvE out like that on all corners we should change that very quickly. Annoys me we have all our players back in the box, bloody chaotic at times!

Agree with this - double jeopardy & yellow on comes into play when an actual attempt on the ball has been made. If that was awarded, it would have been a red.

Decisions like this piss me off, especially when I think about Godden getting a 3 match ban for simulation when winning the pen vs Fulham. Still not sure anyone else has ever been banned since that one?!
