Would it be fair to say that people tend to give Reece Brown more praise when he plays at centre back and more criticism when he plays elsewhere? I thought he had a reasonably solid game last night at centre back and it's left me wondering if the issue is one of marketing. We've been told he can play at right back, centre back and defensive midfielder (and was there a suggestion he could play left back too?) Maybe that has raised unfair expectations of the lad. Should we be thinking of him as a centre back first and foremost, not a defensive utility player?
I have not seen him before last night, but he looked shaky up until extra time. At one point when they were putting a cross in he was marking Edge. Edge beat him to it too.
He gets more credit WHEN WE WIN. People arn't looking for the negatives as much. Now he was at fault quite a bit last night still I thought. Certainly on their 2nd.
He made quite a few miskicks, positional errors and dangerous manouveres right up until about 80 minutes. It was only in the final ten of normal time that I stated out loud that he had done something well.
