Yeah, it does suck. I worked for an American company in the late 80’s and they decided to let 200 of us go in the uk. (2 companies merged, and so there was too many peeps). Finished 31st Dec. Being on the market with about 30 people from similar roles wasnt fun. Took me 8 weeks to get hired again, and like you I had 3 months severance, so got sorted with time to spare.
it was good and bad.
Bad when they announced it just before December, making Xmas stressful, stress looking for another job, bad when I only got paid 4 yrs of my 5 year redundancy ! Bad when they re-hired a guy who’d left a year before to go to South Africa, and came back during Xmas….
Good because I needed a change anyway, and it didn’t actually take that long to get a new job, good meeting new people and developing lasting friendships with them, good because the new people introduced me to ski-ing, and Lots of trips to USA which I enjoyed.
it seems awful at the time, but look forward positively and things should turn around for you, and it may be a better end result.
