18 goals in 75 apperances

i am willing to bet we sign at least one striker this pre season with a worse record than that

On 5 January 2011, Johnson appeared in court charged with false imprisonment of a woman whilst at the house of an unnamed Blackburn Rovers player. Both Sheffield Wednesday and Plymouth Argyle, his club at the time of the incident, claimed to have no knowledge of the incident until the court appearance

18 goals in 75 for a defender is amazing, are we sure he's not just Manset in disguise?

Actually, his record is too good.

My apologies thought you were preempting the arrival of a crap striker.

Sheffield Wednesday fans speak highly of him, but he is injury prone

one of my friends is a cov fan whos lives in sheffield and goes to many of their games with his mates

"wow....he is rather like mo konjic. full of effort, scores a fair few and prone to the odd mistake, but makes up for it with heart. the wednesday fans loved him"

he last text was

"every game, back him to be 1st scorer, it will pay"

Blimey, how has he scored so many goals? Is he a set-piece taker?

Hi, Owls fan here.

Great signing for you guys in League 1.

Its not often a team releases a player loved by at least 75% of the fan base, but that is what has happened to Reda. He has had a tough time last year with injuries, but if you can get him back to full fitness you will have a great player on your hands.

Can occasionally drop a bollock, but a he is a real powerful presence from left back, and is a genuine leader on the pitch as well. Expect 110% performances and a huge goal threat at set pieces, rather than considered quality on the ball or passing ability.

Will be very fondly remembered by Wednesday fans.

Defintely this. As a defender bookies constantly underestimate him. Backing him as first scorer to a £1 stake over his Wednesday career gives you a mental profit of £80 quid or something!

Not at all! Doesnt have anything like enough quality for that.

In all seriousness, I wouldn't expect that sort of return again - a lot of his goals were under Gary Megson, when we were a really tall, powerful side. We had a 6' 1" RB, one CB at 6' 3", one 6'7", a Centre forward at 6' 3" and Reda at LB at 6' 4".

Teams in league one just couldn't handle the shear amount of big, tall players at free kicks and corners and Big Reda made the most of it.

Owls fan I know used to rave about him for years, and was hacked off when he left. Absolute monster of a player who, as others has said, is a BIG threat at set pieces. Mates text me saying back him to be top Cov scorer but I think 1st/last scorer every week could be a good shout. Player with passion who fans loved, sat in the away end with the fans when injured.

Very humble too. Did loads of Charity work while at Wednesday, including Donating £5,000 of his own money to a Sheffield Charity that he was inspired by.

All round great bloke, and a lot of Wednesday fans are sad to see him leave.

Agree with that above, need another 4 to 5, of which we need 2 strikers and we are not far away. Come on SISU, let SP have the full money

I agree with that. Quite experience bunch considering their age, and all seem to know the league

Very good player at this level. Dad's a Wednesdayite so I've seen him a few times. Fan favourite, would be great business. Just superb in the air, decent finisher like Gary Cahill, no set plays. Check Miguel Llera's record at Wednesday, pretty special too.

Lleras record is also good, but he actually DOES take free kicks.

Where does he primarily play? Centre half or at left back?

CB I'd say looking at the size of him!

For Plymouth (who we signed him from) and in his early career he played left-sided CB. Also plays there for Benin.

He didn't really shine for us though until he got shunted to left back. He dropped some absolute clangers in his first half season with us. It was a lot like - make a mistake at CB, and the forward is into the area to take a shot, but at LB, he always had at least 1 CB covering him so his mistakes werent quite so costly. Loves to dive into a tackle (his tackle against Scott Wagstaff of Charlton early in his career was mentally good) which suits playing at LB more than CB.

SWFC fan here, I posted when you were first relegated to League One. (Sorry to remind you!). I just wanted to pass on more words about Reda. Funnily enough I haven't actually changed my profile picture for years on here. It is the Benin flag with Reda Johnsons face on, so it hints at how highly I regard him. As a 19 year old Wednesday fan, I haven't had much to shout about but I can honestly say that in the several years Reda was here he had become my favourite all time SWFC player. He's just mad! I've never seen a 6'3 left back completely flatten strikers, run up the field and belt one into the top corner before! He's such a monster on his day. I do hope he recaptures the form he showed for us when we were promoted from this league because he was such a pleasure to watch. He's can be ruthless in the tackle (not dirty, he's a very honest player) and he can be lethal in the opposition box. It was probably right for him to leave us, with our takeover we are looking onto bigger and better things and if you couple that with his injury record it did make sense for us. I will never forget the passion he showed for us in some of our darker times and some of the outright belly laughs he gave us for all sorts of reasons.

So, in short, you have a fantastic addition to your squad. A player that gives his all and is just a complete handful. You used to see him in the centre forwards position half way through a game. When Dave Jones was manager he was asked where exactly does Reda play (bearing in mind he's a left back on the team sheet) and Dave Jones just replied....' Well............................................ we just let him play where he wants'. :claping hands: That just sums the man up.
