Now estimations weren't always my strong point at school but that's a win rate of around 16-18%, and everyone seems to be happy with that? I'm dumbfounded

I don't think people are happy with that. I'm certainly not, but I cannot see anyone else being able to do any better with the dross that is classed as our squad

Take it no one seen what holloway did with blackpool a few seasons ago then?

Come on people wake up and realise the manager is just as much, if not more to blame then the players, you are forgetting he's the one that tells them what to do, how to play!

he had players like Charlie Adam and DJ Campbell you muppet. Yes he worked on a shoestring to an extent but he had a lot more backing than Thorn from his board

You can tell the players what to do on the pitch, but if the players can't be arsed like they wasn't yesterday then there isn't a lot you can do. Normally them players would be dropped but we are not in the position to do that as we have no depth of squad
Maybe it's the whole situation the club is in and it's affecting the players.
Would be interesting To see how they responded if we were at the other end of the league

Errm, since last season for whetever reason, Thorn has lost ......

Keiren Westwood, Stephen O'Halloran , Lee Carsley, Michael Doyle, Marlon King, Freddy Eastwood, Isaac Osbourne, Aron Gunnarsson, Ben Turner, Michael McIndoe.

That's 10 players. I'll say it again, that's TEN PLAYERS. No idea what you do for a living, but let's say you do a job and the company give you 12 tools that are required to do the job. The next year they take 6 of those tools off you and still expect you to do the same job.

The more we lose players the worse our performance is going to get.

Now, it has to be said, I am not sure about Thorn as a manager myself, but to look at his stats and compare with anyone with the squad he has got to work with is just utter nonsense and plain daft.

I make it 19.23% win rate. That's not quite 1 win in 5 games.

80.7% of the time we don't win & 40.3% we lose and don't score points.

We are averaging 0.46pt per game.

:thinking about: What that exactly means I'm not sure.

I would put the positive spin on that then that at least we are getting points per games. Got to be a bonus surely?

Yeah! true, but at that rate it would take us 9 games to make the 4 points to get us out of the bottom three.

And I love your name too man

Even I would have Michael Doyle back.

He hasn't lost Eastwood that is his choice, Carsley, Doyle, Osbourne and Turner never played for him and I cannot believe anyone cares about O'Halloran or McIndoe. Replacement keeper goals against ration is acceptable so 2 players have really gone and yes they have had an impact.

But motivation of current crop is poor and the one signing he has made looks worryingly out of it so questions must be asked.

regardless about money and investment you work to ur advantages and make sure you get results with what u have got. Yes people say players aren't good enough which could be correct, but if your not motivated then you are fighting a loosing battle before a ball is kicked ! I said against Preston last season Thorn is not the answer and even in the games after that i didnt see anything that changed my mind!!! Clive Platt said something yesterday (actually he said quite alot) regarding being united at other teams when times were tough and squads were small, that doesn't seem to be the case with us for what ever reason!

If/When etc we go down is Thorn the man to lead us back??? For me its a No....

I like Thorn, but even fighting against the financial side he can't be entirely blameless forever. This is still a team he's guided into winning positions which have been needlessly thrown away, so I don't buy the argument that no manager could do better.

Is it possible that a man not properly qualified for football management who was a chief scout a few mere months ago may actually be lacking somewhat?

Knew someone was going to pick up on this, which is why I said "for whatever reason." He hasn't got Eastwood has he. It's a player he longer has as an option. Who said anything about Turner playing for Thorn? All i did was say how many less players Thorn has to work with. Doesn't matter whether you care about O'Halloran or McIndoe.

The squad is too small and Thorn doesn't have a big enough squad to work with. 5 players have a really bad game and he cannot replace them all for the next game.

I cannot remember another city manager who has had to rely on playing 3 youth team players who are in their first proper season in the first team (all 3 were 17 at the beginning of the season). And that before you include Cameron who is still 19.

So for the last half an hour yesterday we had a defense of Keogh, Cameron (19),Willis(17) and Christie(18) with Thomas (18) in midfield. And if Bigi (18) wasn't suspended he would have probably been in the starting line up too.

... and thats when the problems start.

@Houchens Head: I have decided the state of 'looniesy' reached after a quart of bourbon is indeed what is required to help rescue the season, or, at least make is bearable. Chin Chin!!!

fair point but what worries me is AT's failure to motivate the more senior players - Bell, McSheffery, Baker, Eastwood and to some extent Clingan.

Bottom line is that in years to come many people looking at the stats wont think ah but he didnt have the players/finance, they will compare him to other CCFC managers and conclude he wasnt up to it (unless we suddenly start winning).
