Coventry City manager Richard Shaw said City not taking their chances and Crewe taking theirs was the reason, they lost at Gresty Road yesterday.
Speaking to the Press Associaton, Shaw said: "There wasn't much in it but it was a poor goal to concede and I was really disappointed with our defending for it. "We need to be stronger, maintain focus for 90 minutes and not switch off if we are to have any aspirations of doing well in this league.
"We made some changes at half-time and had a real go at them and felt we deserved something from the game, but we need more quality in the final third and more concentration at the back.
"Carl should have scored and he held his hands up at half-time. Goals change games and that was a big miss. Crewe scored theirs we didn't and that is why we lost the game."

No shit Richard!!!!

I've been watching football for years, I didn't realise that we had to score more goals than our opponents.

Wonder if our players have worked it out quicker than me!!

we had 2 chances all game

The baker header and the Cody cross bar

Our problems are width and pace - we have neither ( crewe did)
I just hope a new manager sees the blindingly obvious

Yeah, on the way back we were talking about how awful we were. On sunday though, i was thinking about it and whilst i still thought we were awful, we only lost 1-0 and actually we had enough chances to win it. I think if Baker had scored that header in the first half when we were on top we'd have gone on.

I still agree with most that we played some horrible football, and god knows why we persisted with the diaganol from the full back to the forwards, because Crewe dealt with it for most of the game. But we wasted an awful lot of possession.

I still think the right manager will take this group of players up.

OK so after the Birmingham game, Shaw is a refreshing change from Thorn, says all the right things, talks the talk...

Now one defeat later and he's as bad as all the others?

Make your mind up lads!

Thats not what i'm saying. I said the right manager will take this team up. I didn't say that wasn't Shaw - however i also didn't say after the Birmingham game that Shaw should get it.

I have never commented on Shaw...I for one welcome Wilder if he's appointed.

I also missed the Brum game as I was on holiday...so I didn't have 2 days of imagining we'd walk the league with Shaw.

a point I made pre season.

all is not doom and gloom however as we have progressed in the league cup. It does make you wonder how players can play well one game and crap the next. I suspect their preparation for games is not as professional as it should be. it is very difficult for managers nowadays because players have too much money and lose their motivation. even at this level.

Maybe the players still get decent bonus payments for a much cherished cup run for our owners
