Seven goals last season and our fourth choice striker? There really is a suppressed market apart from at the top level now.

More than 1 in 3 as MPG in a side mostly struggling while he had Covid is a decent return. I think another club after a goal scorer would take a punt on him.

Realistically most have little or no sell on value in todays post COVID market . Gyokeres obviously commands a fee as would O’Hare,Sheaf and Hamer . You would hope Dabo , Rose and Hyam would also but realistically who knows

If we use Ollie Watkins as a gauge of some sort .. he scored 10 goals in over 40 games at 22 in the championship, the then following season 10 in over 40 at 23 , the same age as vik .

The season after he scored 25 goals and Villa came in and spent 28 million rising to 33 million , clubs generally pay more for English players for some reason .. so it's not inconceivable that vik could be worth 20 million if he hits 16 more goals this season

Wasn’t he a winger in those 2 previous seasons as well? So 1 very good season as a striker and Villa paid that.

Doubt Chelsea would even grace a £1m bid for Maatsen with a response.

Wish Maatsen was ours at that money! I think he is outstanding at 18 and could easily command a huge fee (certainly in the years to come). Max Aarons valued at 20m+ and he’s 21.

2 years ago and you'd have got decent money for quite a few of the current squad but COVID & Championship debt has changed the market for now. Few Championship clubs spent much money in fees for this season.
Unless you have a player PL clubs want the market is going to be a bit dry for a while.

If no break in attendances it will be back to normal in the championship by the summer transfer window and they’ll be plenty spending a bit of money in January

Keane Lewis-Potter - Hull turned down £8m bid in the summer. West Ham and Brentford interested in him. Value likely to increase. A potential lesson for us in not jumping the gun, and holding out for a better pay day, whilst reaping the benefits of having the players in the meantime.

To an extent I agree but it's a gamble. His value only increases if they stay up. If they get relegated his value is likely to drop.

True, hardly a buyer's market in January, but again it's whether they take the gamble. The increase from summer to January is less than that of summer to summer if he performs well for a whole season. (Especially if they continue to struggle).

Similar to us with the McCallum and Maddison sales.

Vik not the same player , partly as his role has changed.. Still works hard , but he's best playing as the last man running through .

Godden filled in viks role but as much as I love godden and his goal return is fine , we looked a better side with waghorn sitting 5 yards deeper than vik and pulling defenders away .

His experience at this level is seemingly a major plus

I appreciate he won't score as many as matty , but results were better with vik and waghorn

For perspective, £24m wouldn't even buy 2 of West Brom's front 3.

Gyokeres - 15m? We’d be lucky to get more than 2.5 at the moment
