I agree. Just pointing out that it's not a new thing and that the debt from the Prem has gone. The debt now was spent on the likes of Eastwood and Kyle not Chippo and Hadji.

Wasn't making a point, just find it depressing. I don't mind paying for enjoyable times so much, but not for the Coleman years.

The fucking Coleman years as I refer to them.

Nope. As Lord pointed out when relegated our wage bill was 125% of income. It might have been nice watching Dublin on 20K and Hartson being on just as much but it proved somewhat of a catalyst for our club.

As I said, we overspent in the Prem, we overspent in the Championship, now we're probably overspending in L1. Stop trying to make everything some kind of point.

The debt from the Prem was wiped in 2007. The £50m we owe now has been run up in the last 7 years AFAIK. Happy to be corrected.

Think the debt was carried over, we were never "debt free".

No thanks, was crap the first time around and managed just 3 goals in 17 games in league two this season, to follow up on his 3 in 21 games for us the season before....

Walsall have announced that eight players are leaving the club, including top scorer Craig Westcarr. The striker scored 17 goals this season but will not be offered a new deal

He'd be worth a shout but we'd still need a player to link the play, similar to Leon Clarke.

Money owed to your owners isn't debt in the traditional sense but we all know it exists. It always has done. Everything they have ever put in is essentially a loan including whatever debt they "cleared" when they took over.

former Sky Blues loanee Jamie Reckord has been released by Wolves. The 22-year-old left-back played nine times for Coventry in 2012 and finished this season on-loan with Swindon Town.

Darren Ambrose, Wade Elliott, Peter Lovenkrands, Hayden Mullins, Brian Howard and Aaron Martin have all been released by Birmingham.

Would Martin consider a return? Mullins is getting on a bit, but a decent midfielder (prob commands a hefty wage though).

And to think the likes of Rooney are on 150 x times....

Stating the obvious but we need to remember that if players are out of contract they are on, not 5k or 8k or 10k per week, they are on zero.
They, therefore, have to negotiate the best they can get. For that reason many will have to take anything they can get in a buyers market with dozens of players on the open market. The real question is how much we are prepared to pay as there has never been a better time to pick up freebies for low wages. No doubt we will be offering peanuts so expect monkeys.
Now if we were back at the Ricoh and asked supporters to pledge for season tickets, memberships, 2, 3 and 5 year season tickets we could raise some money and make a genuine promotion push.
Breath not being held.

See that Lee Barnard has been teased by Sourhampton. Think he did alright for them in this league? Could be wrong. Also he might not be classed as 'realistic'
