So with his current displays it looks like he maybe the next to go.
Contract up at the end of the season really need to sign him up long term. Then if we sell we should ask stupid money for him

He's played 6 games! Sure he's done everything asked of him but its way too early to panic about him leaving.

There was an earlier thread called 'RCC' on this subject. Scroll down a bit.

You expect this sort of thing of being linked. Goes with the territory. However, the fact that he is out of contract at the end of the season is a bit of a concern and it is something we need to address asap.

Why? Best keeper we've had in years! Probably since Kirkland. He is that good. Be foolish to see him leave for nothing end of season.

Wouldn't be for nothing, but really need to sign him up so that we get a good wad for him not a measly million. Do a Southampton and put a silly figure on his head then if someone is willing to pay it fair enough.

Won't be much though in a tribunal. Probably 250k if that and personally he will be a premier league keeper one day. He literally has everything you want in a keeper

Never too early we always leave it until the last minute and then bang their gone.
We need to learn from our past history.

I agree that is why you slap a 5 million bounty on his head.

Not sure about the 'top teams' bit; aren't Villa one of the alleged clubs?

Think many are getting carried away re the lad. Yes we should extend his contract and protect our interest but is he as good as some are saying. From what I have seen he is competent, tries to command his area and distributes the ball quickly and effectively. He has made a few good 1 on 1 saves/blocks but not really seen him tested as yet. Hopefully he will turn out as good as we hope but I'm worried the hype and expectation will be a burden to him and/or it will encourage struggling and desperate teams at a higher level than us to try and steal him for peanuts

He has done everything he has needed to do each game. He does everything Burge should have been doing. and he does it all very confidently. He is doing very well for a young GK and should improve with experience.

Have i missed something? He's been great since he's came in but its a bit early for "best keeper we've had since Kirkland" and "he'll be a premier league keeper one day" isnt it?

What makes me laugh about this is that big clubs are supposedly interested. If their scouting network was that good and they wanted RCC then surely they could have signed him in the summer when he hadn't played a game for us for next to nothing. Proves to me the story is pretty much nonsense.

He has done well and has met every challenge so far but am I being little cynical thinking that this maybe a mischievous agent looking to get his client a new deal?

i hope he keeps more clean sheets in the coming weeks though.

I've been very impressed with RCC especially his handling and distribution and the run of cleansheets looks very impressive on paper, however, he has been fortunate that he's faces some woeful finishing, for example the Blackpools best chance when Cullen should have scored he put it wide. The defence has been largely excellent and limited chances and he's had to make very few worldies, so he's had a bit of luck.

I am a big fan though and am not dissing him.

You could then say that about every young player that hasn't made the grade at a prem club for what ever reason.
After all they must have seen something in these players in the first plac
They then move to a lower div club where they then get a shot in the first team and then some shine and move up again.

He looks a talent for sure but I agree that he hasn't been massively tested, he's made a couple of good saves, his catching and technique looks excellent and his distribution is very good.

I mean he came in after Burge so probably makes him look better than he is, if Burge hadn't been in before him we'd probably just be saying he's doing what is expected of a keeper.

We should definitely tie him down to a longer deal and he's clearly capable at this level but I haven't seen enough yet to say he could make it in the premier league.

He couldn't have done anymore than he's done. Like I said I'm not trying to put him down, I've been v impressed with his handling, just saying that he hasn't been massively tested, which is a good thing as it means the team have been doing their defensive job well.

I'd love us to get him tied down to a longer term deal, he looks like he had more potential than Burge.

It's telling that he could a record that stretches back to Oggy tomorrow, but he's. Currently sitting behind an excellent defensive unit organised by a top manager.
I want him offered a deal, but to remain with us, not to be cashed In on.

Is there where people who didn't want Burge dropped for RCC all start worrying that RCC will be sold?

Why? I've seen all 6 of his matches. He's conceded one goal in that time (a wonder strike at that) he looks the complete goalkeeper. He was on arsenal books so clearly they saw the potential luckily for us they released him. He'll be playing against them one day in the top league. As for best keeper, I genuinely believe he's the best we've had in goal for over 10+ years. In 6 matches hasn't done anything wrong which for a keeper is unheard off. Have you actually watch him play?

Do you still have posters of 'big lee' on your wall? Your fixation with him is a little strange.

Even if he wasn't. His former shows he deserves a longer deal IMO. We've had our fingers burned once too many times recently playing chicken with contracts. If we are really building something, keeping players like RCC on contract even if it's just to bump up their worth is something we should be doing.

I completely agree when it's Reda or Tudgay or the like. But promising kids are different.

Do we still want Oggy sacked? He was getting the blame whenever Burge made a mistake.

Yes I have seen him play. Yes he has done very well so far. But best keeper since Kirkland, really?? After 6 games?

I'm guessing you must have forgotten about Keiren Westwood.

I don't have a fixation with Burge at all. I think a lot of the criticism of him on here was very unfair, but RCC has taken his chance and absolutely deserves to be no1.
