Well done RCC Ramage and Murphy. It is good to see players fight back after poor performances. That is the spirit we need.

About right but I forgot Fleck was playing totally useless today

No one above a 6, bar RCC.

That save was outstanding, one of the best I have seen in a number of years from a City player.

Fleck was shite, Maddison was lost up front and Murphy was so lazy.

About right I would say but maybe a 5.5 for Stokes got beat to many times Murphy was also about a 6 except for the goal did very little. Cargill was truly outstanding now there is one for the future.

The game is hard one to accept if you didn't go, but the reality of it was that they were all our us all game and to come away with a point is more positive than it seems. It's just so tough to accept that their goal game in the 84th minute, albiet a master strike.

I've not seen us so deep in such a long time. The encouraging thing was that the defence on the whole looked so much better and RCC shoved my previous criticism of him down my throat.

RCC - 8 - Some incredible saves, commanded well. Overall outstanding performance.

Lorentzon 5.5 - Hard to rate as he went off quite early. Want to see more.

Ricketts 5 - Didn't look great to me to be honest.

Cargill 8 - Won loads of headers and was well organised. Very impressed.

Stokes 6 - Average

Stephens 6.5 - Pretty good, want to see more

Rose 6.5 - Agree with previous poster, similar rating as Stephens.

Fleck 5 - Not his best game in a city shirt

Murphy 6 - Scored, and I'm pleased for him, but that was about it

Maddison 6 - Some nice touches and some absent periods

Armstrong 6.5 - Tried very hard today despite being out of position for a lot of it

I was too pissed by the time the subs came on so its hard for me to give an accurate rating but Ramage was certainly improved on last week which I'm happy about.

So RCC had a good game. But let's not kid ourselves that one good game makes a good goalkeeper. A goal-keeper is the rock that the rest of the team is built on, and needs to be consistently good throughout the season.

And would I be correct in saying that you said Murphy shouldn't play as he doesn't score enough goals and argued with anyone that said he was a goalscorer so should be in the side......including myself

They were all over us, but to be fair we have been all over a few teams lately and came away with nothing so maybe we are learning.
They say Leicester have not had more then 50% possession any of their games? Well it hasn't done them any harm.

RCC - 9 Dont need to say much more, incredible performance.
Lorentzon 5 - I like him from what ive seen, hope its not a bad injury, want to see more of him.
Ricketts 5 - Looked nervy, struggled high up while attacking. Not convincing
Cargill 8.5 - Very impressed. Got his head on everything and soaked up pressure like a sponge. Just what we have been missing since Reda. Looking forward to seeing him play more.
Stokes 6 - Average, not his best game, but gave us an outlet when trying to move forward on the left.
Stephens 7 - Relatively impressed, started nervy, a few wayward touches. Settled in and looks like he can play the ball. Keen to see him with Cargill at CB.
Rose 7 - Looked keen to move the ball forward, played it quite well. Seemed a little absent at times though. Potential
Fleck 5 - Too anonymous today, not his best game but worked hard.
Murphy 6 - Got his goal, he still concerns me. Gave it away a lot, didn't do much other than the goal. Good goal though working the 1-2
Maddison 6 - A tad anonymous, but we were sat so deep for so long he couldn't get into the game as much as usual
Arma 8 - Impressed me today. Looked like he was playing as a winger for much of the game, so not his usual position. Defensive work rate was top drawer, kept the pressure on their wingers, wasn't giving up and got forward quickly whenever we could break. I feel he's been given some slightly unfair criticism from yesterday.

Henderson 6 - Won the ball often, played it relatively well. Almost scored when cleared off the line. Keen to see him more again. 4-4-2 with Arma could be dangerous.
Ramage 7 - Good bounce back performance. Worried me when he came on but played well under severe pressure.

Good performance in reality. Had to deal with immense pressure all game so a point was well won. Just a shame a late goal took 3 points, but that was a decent performance to stop a rot. Big win next week is on its way.

Seem sole high marks for a game we were dominated for 90 minutes and have a goalkeeping MOTM performance to prevent us from losing.

From what TM said that sounded like the plan. Also, you're ignoring that City had some chances of their own.

I'm not ignoring it. Didn't hear TM's comments, I'm sure he wasn't planning his game plan on RCC having a blinder.

What he was said was something like the plan was to let them have a lot of the ball, draw them onto us and hit them on the counter a he's sick of having lots of possession and not winning lately

We had set up to expect pressure. Tm knew we would be defending hard and set up the team with the best chance to cope with it. And we did, admirably.
I think higher marks are justified, especially RCC, Cargill and Armstrong who's workrate, especially defensively, was superb. The team rallied hard yesterday, on the back of 3 poor defeats we battled and ground out a game where we could all to easily have capitulated and shipped 3 or 4 goals again.

I agree. But what pleased me most about RCCs performance yesterday was how commanding his overall performance was.

He dropped a cross fairly early but after that he dealt with balls into the box better than I've seen from him before.

Hopefully this is what we will be getting from him going forward.

I hope you're right, but I agree with the initial statement that one good performance doesn't mean he will perform consistently.
However, I reckon his performance might have been strongly linked to having a more secure defence in front of him. With Cargill controlling the box and the back 4, getting his head on everything, it gave RCC more confidence. He's shown flashes of ability throughout the season but the defence have been so disorganised in front of him, maybe that's the catalyst to a big improvement and increased confidence for the lad.

Murphy didn't deserve his place in the team because of so many lacklustre games where his effort was laughable. There's no denying he can score goals, but in a team that is rotated so often, it is unfair that someone who is underperforming so much continually keeps his place when others are chomping at the bit.

I'm really pleased he scored, and hopefully that confidence boost can help him to improve and concequntlly put in more effort during games. He's got a lot of talent but has been below par in far too many games.

I did go to the game yesterday, and despite what it might look like, aside from his goal he didn't do pretty much anything else for the other 89 minutes. I hope this will start to turn around.

This.
I think we share a view on Murphy. Yes he can come up with a goal but hes not the only one. And in too many games this season he has blunted our attack considerably by not providing for anyone else. The frustration I have is that he is too often selfish, tries to score the wonder goal instead of putting the cross in or playing the simple ball to find Arma or anyone else.

Even though he scored today I am still concerned about him. Other players are sitting out game after game when Murphy has been child-like in effort, will lose the ball and flail his arms in the air like a kid whos had his toy taken off him. Whereas other players turn and get back on their heels and make real effort to win it back. I just dont think he gives us as much as some other players would. If players like JOB, Lameiras, Cole all can't secure a start, Murphy should be making more effort.

Nonetheless, today was one of his better games. Still lightweight and gave up all to easily, but the kid has potential if he starts making more of an effort and showing us in the stands he gives a shit when he loses the ball. Maybe he can live up to potential and help create more, but its still a maybe and I think Lameiras needs a chance in the squad. From time to time Murphy needs to know hes not first on the team sheet every game, might just help to make him work harder too! He could also be very dangerous running at a tired defence if he comes on as a sub with fresh legs occasionally.

Surprised to see Armstong rated as highly as he has been. He might have been out of position and working hard but missed a couple of golden opportunities to kill that game off and ultimately that is what he's in the team to do.
