Collins - 7
Bidwell - 8
Kitching - 8
Thomas - 8
Van Ewijk - 8 (MOTM maybe?)
Eccles - 7
Allen - 6
Sheaf - 7
Sakamoto - 7
Godden - 4
Wright - 7

Subs:
O’Hare - 4
Simms - 5
Ayari - N/A
Lati - N/A

Back 4 looking so solid atm, nullified their attack almost completely and made them look easy to play against. Only concern was we reverted to playing the horseshoe-type passes around the back again but hopefully we’ll play with more threat next game.

Definitely want to see Simms start ahead of Godden next game, I think his pace and strength could really add something to our game, other than that I hope we play the same team and same formation next week. PUSB!

Kitching beginning to show why we chased him so hard and spent so much money on him, superb tonight.

There's been a lot of criticism of Robins' summer recruitments, but looking at it now....

Thomas is looking good, Kitching is looking very good, Collins is looking decent and MVE and Sakamoto are looking promising.

SImms seems to be getting better and Wright IS scoring.

Not looking so bad now is it.

He looks much better coming on as a sub than when starting.

Sheaf and Kitching were the best but no one didn't play well apart from Godden arguably. Wright is not necessarily the most graceful player but he is effective and in terms of minutes it's about one goal every other game from him.

Brilliant play from van Ewijk for the goal.

Frustrating really as he had loads of time to check across the line, as Sheaf did to pick the pass.

Collins 6 - harsh maybe given the clean sheet but his decision making wasn't great
Van Ewijk 7.5 - that's what he can do when he runs to the byline. Some excellent recovery runs too
Thomas 7 - pretty solid again. Some decent headers
Kitching 8 motm - some excellent defending and looks to penetrate with the longer ball. I can see why we spent the money on him now
Bidwell 7.5 - excellent defensively again.
Eccles 6 - lost possession too easily and almost cost us a couple of times
Sheaf 7.5 - such a steady player. Quality. Deserved a goal.
Allen 7 - some excellent running off the ball and decent link play first half. Seemed to tire in the second
Sakamota 7 - most of the creativity came from him. Unfortunately couldn't get on the ball enough
Godden 5 - not entirely his fault but hardly in the game
Wright 7 - mixed bag but decent finish and he has that knack of being in the right place

O'Hare 6.5 - looking sharper and had some good moments
Simms 6 - got himself involved but should have passed when he shot both times
Ayari 4 - not sure what he contributed about from conceding a silly foul and skying a shot. Would have thought Kelly would have been the better option
Latibeudiere 6

The ball played should be a lot quicker because when you start to make a run its difficult to check because you lose all momentum, when I played I used to set off a couple of minutes before the ball was played and even Godden would outpace me in a foot race

I keep saying it but Sheaf drifts out of games, he did it this evening, and when he does is when we come under pressure.

If he could be consistent he'd be heading to the prem.

I thought first half was as good as I’d seen him this season. Agree that both him and Eccles can drift in and out but also wonder if that’s just them also just doing the dirty work/staying in position etc sometimes. Agree that it feels like he’s got more in his locker though

We’ve beaten a couple of pretty poor teams at this level. Three of the next four will be more a yardstick of how effective they are against the better teams in tbf league

Stand outs last night were the back four especially Kitching and Thomas (he’s coming along great in a back four !). Sheaf first half and Saka in patches…we needed to get the ball to him more !

Simms looked lively when he came on. Would’ve swapped him for Godden after 60.

Solid display against a decent side

Beating the rubbish teams is more than we were doing a few weeks ago so I'll take it atm.

We add a better midfielder and another striker in January I think we will be well set up for the back half of season, there still isn’t a match where we have been outplayed.

Couldn’t make the game but CET ratings seem bizarre based on what I’ve seen here. Everyone a 6 except Tats who gets 5 and 7 for Wright

You sound surprised
It was a solid performance with Kitching , Sheaf and Wright ( with the goal and how he played after it ) the stand outs
Sakamoto wasn't our worst player , Godden didn't play badly he just had zero impact on the game

I havent watched it back but I remember thinking at the time that Sheaf was almost looking to see where Wright was running before playing it. There just isn't that wavelength between the midfield and strikers yet. I guarantee that last season Sheaf plays that pass a second earlier knowing where Gyok would be running before hes started the run.

Sheaf was superb..but this is the part of his game he can improve..he delayed and delayed the pass should have pulled trigger earlier. Hamer woukd have slide ruled that pass a second earlier.

Top strikers “bend” their runs to get that split advantage whilst staying onside that split second longer. Gyok was good at that IIRC.

One again I thought the centre backs were great. Bidwell was also good, although maybe not as good as the last couple of games (which the standard was very high). There was also a point in the second half where I felt MvE got everything wrong, then he pulled an assist out of his arse. Fair play I guess!

Sheaf was excellent and barely put a foot wrong, other than some of his forward play and shooting. Eccles also pretty good, maybe too confident at times. Allen again I think a bit underrated, worked tirelessly. Strikers? Wright is getting better. Just some finishing, but he scored, so who really cares. Sakamoto has something about him, but Godden a bit too quiet for me.

Substitutions I am not sure about. COH looked well off it to me. Is that to be expected? Maybe.

Either way, I will take the win every day. We weren't as good as against Millwall, but it doesn't matter. Two wins on the bounce should have lifted the pressure a bit now.

Can we please start two new permanent threads so that ratings and matchday threads aren't cluttered up with......(politeness forbids me from saying)....but actually I will, b.......x

1. The Mea Culpa thread: This is for people to piously intone how they were critical of player x but now realize he is good, but irritatingly also expect us to be impressed by this dramatic change of heart on their part. Currently this slot is occupied by Kitching. Actually we don't care that you were wrong the first time. Also known as the Grendel-Free thread, because he has never been known to change his mind.

2. The Player X is Shite thread. Also known as the Fatso thread as currently Wright is the focus of his and other people's ire. This thread is to give them somewhere to go and annoy one another leaving Matchday and Ratings threads free for sensible comments - like the nice one from the Plymouth fan

Some of Allen’s runs from deep were excellent, managed to get through untracked two or three times first half. Like Wright, once we’ve got a midfield that can consistently pick those runs out we’ll be laughing. I think Simms will do better than Godden in that style. Wright, Simms, Allen, Saka and MvE breaking is some decent pace and skill.

We found Allen on one of those occasions but I can't remember who it was played the ball through.
