I guess anyone would have done well with Hamer alongside them.

In a positive team playing with confidence, Ayari would be a good player.

With his shooting? Yes, that is a weakness but in terms of winning the ball & using it well he was by far & away the best out there.

In regards to Wright, would rather he plays shite and scores than looks good but doesn’t score. I would take two tap ins every day of the week over a good performance. Don’t care how they go in. Fair play to him - wasn’t his fault we conceded 3 shit goals again.

Him and Simms need more than one game up front together. I have an awfully optimistic feeling that it could work. Far more dangerous than Godden.

Not sure he would personally, given the importance of his position for us I don't see how we'd play with confidence without him playing well

It might seem a strange thing to say but those two goals by Wright were simple tap ins and not really of much merit. Another non impactful performance by him sadly.

A bit better from Ellis Simms today, he did try and did offer a threat when out wide.

Wilson 5 looked nervy
Lati 5 struggled against their winger
Thomas 6 looked ok today
Fadz 4 sadly he looks like any speed he had is gone
Kitching 5 ok tried to push us forward at times bit switched off for their 3rd
Dasilva 5 struggled defensively and offensively
Sheaf 5 was poor for 70 minutes and looked disinterested until Eccles and Bidwell came on. Then he looked good but that fist 70 minutes!!
Allen 6 did ok
Ayari 6 looked better than he had done and I was surprised it was him not Sheaf that was hooked at half time
Godden 6 did a lot of work and his shot set up the first
Wright 7 he got 2 goals so gets an extra 2 points. That touch near the end to bring the ball down 40 yards out. It ballooned for a goal kick

Subs

Ohare 6 did ok
Eccles 7 gave us some cohesion and drive my MOTM
Bidwell 7 an outlet that we havent had all season
MVE 5 We’d have been better leaving Godden on

Ref was appalling although I think i saw him point the the linesman when the penalty was being argued by the players. Time wasting allowed and he fell for their histrionics.
He’ll probably be back on telly next weekend somehow and I dont mean on the football league show.

Big shout out to the ‘you’re in my seat’ hipsters that turned up 5 minutes in, complete with shit beards, beanie hats and pumps. . Probably late turning up as they had been sampling some independent brewery piss water/ale.

Wilson 5

Flapped. Looked nervous and clearly lacking his previous bravado. Needs to pull himself together, if the goalkeeper lacks confidence then fear spreads.

Thomas 5

No finesse and out of position too much.

Fadz 5

Silly pen to give away. His pace is slowing but his experience and decision making usually compensates but not today.

Kitching 5

Has some decent moments but passed us into danger too often.

Lati 6

Had a torrid time against their winger but showed energy and effort.

JDS 5

Normally I’m a fan but looked out if his depth.

Sheaf 7

Did well under the circumstances but tried through balls at the wrong time and to the wrong players.

Allen 7

Showed energy and good pressing.

Ayari 5

Really poor. Send him back.

Godden 5

Good shot for first goal but trying to use him as a mobile striker who can get past a player is pointless.

Wright 5

Didn’t ever think I’d mark a striker who bagged a brace a 5, but they were 2 open goals. “Getting into position” praise has little merit, any striker should be in the box when it matters. He Cant hold the ball up and doesn’t press.

Subs

Eccles 7

Made an impact and added some determination.

Simms 8

It seems ridiculous to give a sub the highest rating but he did well running in from wide and proved to be a handful.

O’Hare 6

He’s not ready yet and I hope we don’t rely on him too much too quickly.

Bidwell 7

Did a lot better than JDS

MVE 5

Confidence issues on show.

Robins 7

For the first time in a long time it seems the pressure is getting to him.

The constant formation changes, rightly or wrongly, are unusual. For a long time we’ve stuck to our system and been tough to beat. Now we are chopping and changing all over and the manager is criticising players.

The big money outlay is a heavy chain to wear and I think he realises he (and he’s said in the past that no player gets signed without his sign off) has got it terribly wrong.

Simms and Bidwell have to start next time up and I think it’s time for the box with Godden and Wright benched. Allen and (oddly) Eccles high press and pass with Sheaf and Lati holding. This will allow MVE to get forward. I think MVE doesn’t hit the byline for fear of having to track back on a break to cover a slow defensive set up.

The guy is there to score goals he scores 2 yesterday thats his job .He can play sh1t every week so long as he puts the ball in the net we have 10 other players on the field to entertain us.I wonder if you would be in the camp for dropping him next Saturday.
As for the game yesterday MR sent out 11 players in the first half that bore no resemblance to a team when he brought on Eccles (Why was he dropped?) and Simms at half time we had a much better balance to the side 18 shots and 8 on target is pretty good away from home.Never a pen..

First it was Godden now its Wright, its bizarre.

Wilson - 4

Thomas - 5
Fadz - 5
Kitching - 5
Latibeaudiere - 6
Sheaf - 6
Allen - 6
Dasilva - 5
Ayari - 4
Godden - 5
Wright - 8

Subs:
Eccles - 6
Simms - 7
O’Hare - 5
Bidwell - 6
MVE - 5

Wilson is on thin ice I think, Godden running around a lot but no end product atm. Wright MOTM, he made some great runs that weren’t picked out and just seemed on it all game, only saving grace of the game really. O’Hare looked surprisingly poor tbf, not sure what to make of him atm.

Hoping for 4-4-2 or 4-3-3 next game with Wright and Simms up top in some combination. MVE back at RWB and maybe Latibeaudiere in DM alongside Sheaf. Need to put Binks in the back line maybe alongside Kitching. The form is coming, just taking a long time to get there I think.

I think many people made up their minds on him early on and they will pick faults regardless.

It seems to happen on here quite a lot.

He’s been playing very poorly - unsure what system suits him but we haven’t been playing to his strengths; which there must be else he wouldn’t have had whatever success in Turkey or made the USA team.

For £8m our recruitment team should have done a thorough job to make sure he’d fit, both in the Championship and in our set up. In my opinion they cannot have done.

Of course, most on here would be delighted to see him succeed. I, for one, used to call out Sheaf when he was giving the ball away a lot and being caught in possession. Now he’s improved and he gets praise.

I’ve alluded that I would play Lati in midfield alongside Sheaf or Eccles in the holding role. We need some steel in the middle and Sheaf is good at intercepting but we do lack a tough tackling guy in the middle right now. My thoughts are that in this way we can allow the WBS more cover and hence freedom

Simpleton fans think scoring two tap ins that even he couldnt miss, paves over the shocking display over 98 mins.

Simms did more offensively in 20 mins than haji has in many many games.

He means someone like Michael Doyle, “shithousery”. Because that’s all it takes to win games.

I think it’s a difficult one to say as Lati is unproven in DM whereas Eccles isn’t, but Eccles seems quite inconsistent to me whereas Lati plays to a decent standard most games. I find with Eccles some games he’s on it and some games he looks off the pace and lacks confidence going forward. I think on the whole it’d just be interesting to see what Lati could bring to that defensive midfield position in a 4-4-2. Maybe if we played 4-3-3 Eccles would be better suited as he could play RM, just ahead of MVE but in a 4-4-2 I’d personally go for Lati to start alongside Sheaf.
