He's obviously shown something that has brought him to the attention of several European clubs. Great news if we're beating the likes of Rangers to his signature, if true.

Agreed, our scouting network are usually top notch, but we must be realistic and give the lad plenty of time to get himself up to scratch with the Championship. The Championship is on a different level to the SPL, The SPL is 2 good sides followed by league 1 and league 2 clubs. The Speed, Tactics, Physicality, time on the ball in the Championship is levels and levels above the SPL

You're preaching to the choir regarding the SPL, I've spoken about that more than enough

Rangers is still a big club though and it shows where we're at if we're batting them away.

Ahah Yeah no doubt Rangers and Celtic are big clubs, but i would go as far as saying if Coventry City were in the SPL we would win the league fairly easily and we would be also playing Champions League knockout stages.
Controversial opinion here, i believe Coventry City are a far bigger attraction than Rangers or Celtic. It's not often we see SPL players signing for big sums to Premier League sides, but we do see this happen where the Championship is concerned.

Ryan Sessegnon is leaving Spurs on a free, now that would be an absolute signing for any Championship side.

Doubt anyone in this league would afford his wages, will probably sign for one of the teams that have just gone up

Agreed, always the bastard wages aint it, but i also think a lot of clubs will be thinking why would we be forking out 30/40 grand a week on Ryan Sessegnon.
No doubt there will be a Brentford, West Ham or similar type of club in the Premier League that could take the punt, but i just look at the lad with his injury record and the fact he is 24 years old now and hasn't done anything worth mentioning in his career as of yet. His level is bottom of the Prem or top end of the Championship but i cannot see many clubs eager to bring him in when you look at the amount of injuries this lad has picked up.

You do realise Celtic get 50k+ crowds?

But the biggest WTF is saying we would be playing Champions League knockout stages, they are the ones after the groups mate.

Do you mean the play off games that start in July?

for me 50k crowds for a side that is the Man United club size/prestige of their league is actually not impressive. Sunderland aren't far off that

Celtic and Rangers combined squad value is less than a Leeds or a Southampton. The gulf in standard is mind boggling.

Either team would struggle to automatic promotion in championship.

They would be playoff contenders at best. Their spending power isn't on par with the relegated premier league teams.

I don’t think he means with their current squad. Both Celtic and Rangers are massive clubs and would be top half Prem teams with the resources of a Prem team.

That said, there is an arrogance of Celtic and Rangers that seem to think they’d be at the top table of the league by just being in the Prem. Having a 50-60k stadium doesn’t win you trophies in England.

They have huge fan bases but are no longer huge clubs.

Commercially and infrastructure wise they are more like Championship clubs.

if they were dropped into the Premier league next season they would almost certainly get relegated.

Leicester, Leeds / Saints would almost certainly finish higher than them both. If they could find away to stay in the league for 4 or 5 years they would become much more competitive but they are more likely to end up in the championship in that period.

that’s just not true is it? Rangers for example got to a European final the other year.

Both old firm crowds are mad and would easily pull them to mid table in the PL. Theyd be in and around the Everton/ Palace’s of this world

No chance.

Leeds got relegated with a passionate crowd and a far better team.

I don’t claim to be an old firm expert but Ally McCoist who knows a thing or two about that subject thinks that both teams are miles behind the standard that these clubs used to be.

Regarding Celtic & Rangers. IMO The current standard of their squads is Championship level.
However, if they ever got admitted to the PL with the money available they would have the resources (after a few years) to challenge the top half of PL.
That is why the PL clubs will never vote to admit them. The “sneaky six” clubs that initially signed up to the super league keep manipulating the PL rules to their advantage. E.g. Solidarity payments

That’s my point.

IF they could stay for a few years they would grow but the chances are based on their current squad quality, commercial revenues etc etc and FFP rules they would be more likely to get relegated than stay in the Premier league.

Allegedly we are playing Rangers in a Friendly up at Ibrox again, no idea if it's true, but if it is the "experts" will be able to give a more first hand reasoned perspective.

Also it's the Scottish Cup final tomorrow Rangers v the other lot, presumably no one will be watching the fixed final?

Lots of paperwork to complete I imagine, which has to be shared and registered with the correct authorities. Plus he can’t actually sign until 14th June.

On 27 May 2019, Sessegnon achieved the Guinness World Records title for 'Fastest time to hit both football goal posts and crossbar', doing so in just 7.75 seconds

take that back now

On that rationale players would rather play for Hertha Berlin than Chelsea as they get higher attendances.
