Ranson/Hoff's Takeover (1 Viewer)

It's in the gossip section and was probably a quote from before Thorn was even appointed. Between the Mirror group and lazy reporting I can't stand the Telegraph these days. Supposed to be our local informative paper, but is a complete and utter waste of print.

Ok .......what you know of Ray Ranson is that he never conducts his business through the press......... this is just paper talk trying to drum up a story.

Would up set a lot of fans a story like this ...... take the shine off a bid from Ranson/Hoffman........ wonder who would benefit from that ................

terrible thing a suspicious mind ! lol

Ranson and Thorn are good friends and he brought Thorn to the club in the first place, so why would he not want to keep him?

Hoffman is a Director at Mirror group so they are the main vehicle for all takeover stories so may be some truth in it. However Ranson worked with AT as chief scout and obviously knows what a good eye for a player he has and now he has shown he can lead a team, albeit for only a dozen games RR would be a fool not to consider AT for managers post. However who knows if there wasn't some huge rift between them before RR walked away - AT is now working with the people RR walked away from so maybe there is some bad blood. At the end of the day none of us know what goes on behind the scenes but its fun to speculate.

I thought it was Hoffman/Ranson/Elliott bidding together. Apparently not according to Covcitymad.

"Have Your Say
Have your say on which consortium you think would be best to run Coventry City FC.
It looks like a three bid race with a Ray Ranson consortium, one from City supporters Gary Hoffman and Joe Elliott with the current board, according to tweets seemingly happy to keep control of the club.
The poll runs from: 9th May 2011 until 11th May 2011 and can be found by clicking on http://www.coventrycity-mad.co.uk/ and voting on the poll on the right hand side of the page. "

AT is working with them because they gave him his chance. His first responsibility is to his family and I don't image that chief scout pays as much as manager. I'm sure he appreciates that RR brought him to the club, but no reason to believe there is any kind of rift just because he is still here imo.

I also keep seeing that Hoffman is a director at Mirror group. Whilst this is true and a vehicle he can use to exercise as his mouthpiece when he chooses, I would also think that he doesn't have any editorial say and that all of the stories attributed are still not necessarily 100% accurate.

I would think Hoffman and Ranson would work happily together again but the capacity may differ. I imagine they are both seeking investment and whoever sources it or has the strongest link with the investment, would likely want to steer the ship and be the Chairman.

I would very much doubt if Hoffman would want to be Chairman with day to day involvement in running the club. He is busy launching a bank, NBNK, with Lord Levene so wouldn't think he has too much spare time to run a football club. However could see RR being brought back to run club with Hoffman representing the new owners on the board. To be honest as long as someone comes in with some money to stop us dying a slow and painful death they would be welcome. Wonder if that nice Mr Gadaffi wants somewhere to put his money?
