And he made his first move by opening talks with Dean Shiels, below, who is out of contract after leaving Kilmarnock. It’s understood former Motherwell midfielder Steve Jennings is also on McCoist’s radar, along with ex-Hearts playmaker Ian Black.

This could be part of the delay in signing him up? Maybe thats why AT didnt want to take him to Scotland? haha

Not being funny and i know Rangers are a big club, but would he really want to play in that league in comparison to playing in League 1?

That makes sense though. Keeps him out of the way, training with our fitness coaches. It means he owes us in a way. We nurse him through his knock and he repays us by signing for us on the 11th hour.

Or i could just be making up some ellaborat fantasy...who knows?

I guess but they still have the support, if he signs for them then it really is about money. I didn't think they had any!

Of course they're still a big club! They'll still get massive crowds.

They are a massive club, but in the smallest goldfish bowl imaginable The average gates will be in the 100's, but when Rangers are playing will be in the 10,000's

well Jennings has already said he is looking to move back to England so i dont think the scottish 3rd division will be too appealing to him.

It's been lifted until September so they have a chance to build a team.

The Express article says all the players Rangers Newco are looking at want long term contracts. That'll be four years then, enough time for the Newco to get through the divisions to get back to the SPL. The embargo Newco are under looks what maybe called a 'Portsmouth embargo', the embargo you have when you're not really having one!
