Paul Mariner, died aged 68 of brain cancer, he had a glittering career mostly at Ipswich and for England. Way too young to die, but a lot of that era's players are having brain-related issues, like cancer and Alzheimers, Dominic Matteo also had a brain tumour but survived.

Kids are restricted from heading now… it’s a good thing. Can’t see it ever being taken out the game altogether and neither should it be

RIP thread seems to be the right place to pay respects to Jinxsy the old 3 tuns bouncer…. Always fair and you knew by the way he stared at you with those bulgy eyes that you needed to calm down a bit.

There was a similar type bouncer at the Hinckley Knight on the A5. Think his name was Albert (but I could be wrong) He always gave you one chance and if you were stupid enough to not heed it, you were 100% heading for an early sleep.
RIP Paul Mariner. A terrific forward in a class team at the time.
